Obama Warns Against ‘Aggressive’ Nationalism, ‘Increased Resentment’
Talking Points Memo ^ | July 1, 2017 | Esme Cribb

Posted on 07/02/2017 8:15:40 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Former President Barack Obama on Saturday warned against “aggressive” nationalism and the loss of tolerance and respect for others, pushing back against President Donald Trump’s policies without mentioning his successor by name.

“The world is at a crossroads,” Obama said at a speech opening the Fourth Congress of Indonesian Diaspora in Jakarta.

He said the world must fight “discrimination against people based on race or ethnicity or religion.”

Without that, Obama said, “We start seeing a rise in sectarian politics.”

“We start seeing a rise in an aggressive kind of nationalism,” he said. “We start seeing both in developed and developing countries an increased resentment about minority groups and the bad treatment of people who don’t look like us or practice the same faith as us.”

Obama said progress depends on those willing to “stand up for tolerance and moderation and respect for others.”

“If we begin to doubt ourselves and all that we have accomplished, then much of the progress that we have made will not continue,” he said. “What we will see is more and more people arguing against democracy, we will see more and more people who are looking to restrict freedom of the press, and we’ll see more intolerance, more tribal divisions, more ethnic divisions and religious divisions and more violence.”

“Let’s face it, if people do not show respect and tolerance, eventually you have war and conflict,” Obama said. “Sooner or later societies break down.”

The problem is those "others" not getting with the program...what a naive jackass!

Obama: Please, please don’t believe in America. It makes it harder for us to take it over.

"Obama is really something when he goes to Indonesia and criticizes the USA for religious discrimination."

Indeed, Indonesia, like any islamic hellhole, is the very place of religious and ethnic discrimination. Ethnic Chinese are frequently object of violent pogroms despite keeping their profile low. Even if they have Indonesian sounding names, their passport and national ID are marked with the mention "Chinese". Had they not high IQ and wealth, they would be second class citizens.

“”Someone needs to check the psychological well-being of this POS because he has already forgotten that HE is one who single-handedly did more to INCREASE TENSION among opposing groups than any other pResident in history.””

Well said. His mother/grandparents did a fine job of twisting his mind and foisting him on an unsuspecting populace. Why couldn’t they have left things well enough alone and left him in Indonesia? They cultivated hate in him and turned him loose on the world. That much is known about them doing so than EVER has been written about the parents of Stalin or Hitler...Interesting.

As many times as the questions have been asked about who/where are “his” or “her” acquaintances from college days etc., are there any persons who will come forward and claim to have known his mother? How did she get so twisted?

Clearly the globalists scheme is to use mass immigration to take over democracies and destroy the nation state. You can clearly see that action plan in Europe, California and Virginia.

Observe GOPe. Our presidents go into retirement and not criticize the current administration.

Not the ‘Rats.
Proof? 0bama, Clinton and Carter.

Methinks president Trump will end that practice.

Yes; the OBUNGHOLE speaks more stolen phrases and pathetic platitudes that we have heard over and over again for the last fourty years.
The only thing that the OBUTTHOLE has ever said that sounded original was “you didn’t build that”, and I am sure some one else gave that line to him.

And here I thought Carters reign would last for at least a 100 years.
Then the DIMOCRAPS came up with an OBUNGHOLE.

Good analysis. I’d only add to it that, since it was based largely on white guilt, not ideology (the hopey-changey thing meant any thing to any body and was thus easily dissolved), Obama’s support was always shallow.
