Downstate IL is conservative. But they keep getting outvoted by the morons in Chicago.
That’s why it was one of only two Midwest states that went for Hillary last year.
Chicago has ambiance and good food but not much else to commend it.
I love it when stuff specific to a state or city gets posted and everybody from somewhere else offers an opinion .
LOL!
You are probably right. The intent is in place, however the Dems are just too distracted in fighting too many different causes (all with the same aim to destroy the Country, though).
It is a shame. California used to be a fairly conservative State. And although there have been quite a few liberal transplants (Barbara Boxer came from New York, and Pelosi from Baltimore), and the Schools and Media have done their utmost to brainwash the next Generation - I still think the illegal alien vote has led to the continual leftward tilt in the State.
Notice they didn’t announce this until their favorite son was out of office in halfway around the world.
I agree. Ahnold actually started is term with good intents - but after all of the fiscally conservative propositions that he sponsored got squashed at the ballot box - he jump on the leftist bandwagon.
I agree that California is probably still intrinsically conservative - but with the growth of the Government unions and illegal alien influx - the State is solidly in the hands of the leftists. It will probably take a complete collapse (which won't be fun for anyone) before the State can start to delouse itself.
False!

But, I am having a real estate guy over to put up the house for sale. Why? Because idiots like this guy at the Chicago Tribune recommends taxing me.
Part of the reason I cancelled my annual trip to NC to see my daughter was having to drive through Chicago. You could go through Upper Michigan lol
I was actually looking at ferries. It seems the southern one doesn't take vehicles over 18 feet long. My pickup is 19' 1".
Social Security
Social Security is a retirement income safety net established and maintained by the U.S. government. These benefits, which are reported on line 20b of your 1040 or 14b of your 1040A, are not taxed. The exemption extends to railroad retirement benefits as well.
By "dealing w/ the problem", do they mean that the politicians shouldn't have taken all those campaign contributions? Or permit kick-backs? Or.....
MADIGAN that’s what name comes to my mind.
Just going what http://finance.zacks.com/pensions-taxable-illinois-7441.html says.
Again:http://finance.zacks.com/pensions-taxable-illinois-7441.html; so who is right? You or they?
can’t blame the origins on Chicago. RINO Gov Jim Edgar is solely to blame. Against the analysis of the Fab5 State Senators (Fitzgerald, Rauschenberger, Lauzen, O’Malley, and the one who lost his courage) Jim Edgar gave the Public employee unions everything they wanted in exchange for political support from the unions.
Under Gov Edgar and Gov George Ryan, both RINOs IL spent big and promised big for the future. More than half of Republican legislators went along with their governor.
I think it is only fed, state and local govt employees pensions are exempt, The rest are fu..? er I mean screwed.
I live in Cal and I object to being number 2.
My pension is neither fed, state nor local, it is a private pension and is exempt.
I stand corrected.
You got the property taxes right..11 grand here when for the same thing in AZ it would be 6-7.
