That would solve the black problem.

I’m looking at ways to avoid going through Illinois when I travel from Portage, WI to southern Indiana. My Alaska plates would certainly be a police magnet for a money-hungry state. And my Glock 23 would probably land me in jail, no matter where I store it.

Hmmm.... pension payments should be taxed at a 50% rate

Wow...it took all the way to post #6 to get to the right answer! The only enhancement might be “100 years of Democrats.” Who knows? Maybe it’s 150 years.

There’s always the long way around but then there sits St. Louis.

It all leads back to the Eighteenth Amendment.

Easy.

It has fallen for the same reason every other city, state or nation has fallen over the last 200 years.

Maybe this isn’t fully relevant to the thread here, but when I read stories like this concerning civil servants’ pensions and states like Illinois that are teetering towards bankruptcy, I tend to think of people that I see at my local trap shooting club here. Some work at Revenue Canada and other government departments and have asked me when I am going to retire (I am only in my mid 40s) and have criticized me when I’ve casually mentioned about topping up my RRSP contributions.

People like that, they figure that they are entitled to retire at 55 or even earlier and live in some sort of Disneyland with their hunting and shooting and fishing and their boats and their cottages and their extra glasses of beer or wine and their trips to the Caribbean paid for by suckers like many of us.

“Hmmm.... pension payments should be taxed at a 50% rate”

Very close but you have to make it make it “Illinois state” pension payments....

You can take a car ferry from the Milwaukee area to Muskegon, Michigan and then south from there to Indiana.

“I can explain that with one (1) word “DEMOCRATS””

Illinois problem is both parties are corrupt. If one party gets corrupt you vote for the other side. When both parties are corrupt you have nowhere else to go. We may be already there on a national level.
