... US Commerce Secretary Ross had hinted last month in an interview with US media that the Trump administration would be "open" to resuming talks on a free trade pact with the EU.
However, his speech on Tuesday was the clearest signal yet that talks could resume. "I stand before you tonight to say this in a more explicit fashion: we, as major trading partners of each other, should have a free trade agreement," Ross said.
Initial talks on creating a free trade area on both sides of the Atlantic had been ongoing for years, but came to a halt following Trump's election to the White House.
Trump campaigned on a protectionist platform and on a repeated mantra of "America first."

EU will MAGA!
Our fellow freepers should recognize that the German government always supported manufacturing and the trades.
Result ?
Increasing wages, labor shortage, massive budget surplus, and standard 6 weeks paid vacation.
Let’s hope that Trump is successful in improving our manufacturing climate plus creating a return to widespread high quality training for the trades. We can experience a manufacturing rebirth of epic proportions.
The Germans are rich because they make stuff other people want to buy.
We can too.
The Germans are rich because they haven’t paid $hit for their national defense in over 70 years.
Countries need to toss the elbows around from time to time. TTIP is a way of doing that and like we see from what will happen to NAFTA, these things are always renegotiable.
“The Germans are rich because they havent paid $hit for their national defense in over 70 years.”
That is true, but the story of the first half of the 20th century is the German war machine.
We paid a price then for the German’s ambitions, and now we are again paying the price, but with much less blood.
The savings from not spending three or four percent more has very very little impact on why Germany is wealthy. It helps. But it is a minimal piece of the puzzle
I agree with Trump on the subject
We squandered $6 trillion on counterproductive wars in the Mideast and only made the situation worse. With $6 trillion we could have rebuilt our entire country.
Blowing sh*t up in sandland is expensive. Do it enough and you’ll go bankrupt
Trump campaigned on a protectionist platform and on a repeated mantra of "America first."Which is exactly what Germany and every other country does. They just don't say it out loud. You'd have to be some kind of brain dead dimwit to think otherwise.
Get back to us on the German surplus when the welfare bills start pouring in for your refugee population.
Of course we know you can only talk about refugees using glowing terms for fear of the SS showing up at your door.
Frau Merkel has 36 homes raided for anti-Islam hate speech
Looking forward to your links to the arrests/raids of refugees homes for their hate speech.
Oh. You wants links.

Two summers ago I was told I was going to freeze to death because of sanctions against Russia. Last year I was told that Germany would suffer imminent destruction because of refugees. Also the EU was totally coming apart.
I been told that I hide under my bed, actually.
The EU has come apart. It’s now the German 4th Reich in all but name with the election Marcon. Congrats, you know own a failing empire that’s about to import a hundred million stsving Muslim Africans. Syria rapefegees was a test run for the real show.
Thanks confirming the nut responses I sometimes get.
In only 12 minutes.
>Thanks confirming the nut responses I sometimes get.
I wish i was a nut, but all to often I’ve predicted the future using a super power called reading:
And TTIP gets mentioned why??
Got anything better than global warming sending 100 million Africans to Europe?
LoL
Wilbur Ross, the US commerce secretary, addressed the audience of delegates via video-link, telling them US President Donald Trump was receptive to talks on what is known on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) to resume.
IIRC, Hillary was against TTIP.
