By even better logic - Jefferson started America’s FIRST war...

Against muslim Barbary pirates who were enslaving American sailors.

And he attacked them until they stopped.

“the shores of Tripoli...” (Marine Corp Hymn)

So let’s keep that tradition alive too.

Warner Todd Huston - Banned as a source by JimRob.

Hater of FreeRepublic.

Author of Breitbart's most embarrassing moment.

And general all-around scumbag.

Posting his material here is an insult to every FReeper and the owner of this site.

And it's a duplicate thread to boot.

Okay, new tradition: We honor Ramadan in Tripoli, after burning it down.

"only three out of 45 presidents ever hosted one"

It started under Clinton. So that leaves him, Bush, and Obama.

If one journalist writes a badly researched or false piece, all the rest of them repeat or cite it

So “ Amy Wong “ is either citing poor research or creating it and it will go on and on in blogs and more badly written articles

I can’t even imagine what is taught as “ journalism” these days

Horse nuggets. There would have not been enough Muzzies in Washington to have dinner

The often-used claim that Thomas Jefferson held the first Iftar dinner at the White House was trotted out by the Post’s Wang.

Pretty much sums it up... but I was picturing another part of their collective anatomy...

Funny you should mention that.

That is exactly the kind of gaffe that he "author" of this piece, Warner Todd Huston make when he wrote this story -

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2014/11/10/breitbart-news-attacked-the-wrong-loretta-lynch/?utm_term=.e26a612d12b4

Surely Freerepublic can find better sources for its Forum than the likes of him.

Please read the article and judge it on its merit. It is a good one.

Do you believe the article is correct or incorrect. I understand the reasons for not wanting to post articles by Mr. Huston, but this article seems pretty innocuous.

Yes, it appears that Breitbart has its own fakes news reporter!

If you read the original story on the Washington Post, the slant of the story is entirely different from what this Huston guy portrayed.

Huston must be fired!

The Muzzies have been pariahs on the world stage for centuries.......the creeps have zero self-esteem.

So they’re invading America as the way to reestablish themselves as “human beings.”

Problem is, Americans are required to discard all our values to accommodate these lowlife POS.

I would ask you - Have you read the Washington Post article?

Take a look at post #14 on this thread.
Then read exactly what the WP author wrote.

I have done that.
And I conclude that Huston is misstating the gist of the WP article - and doing so rather badly.

We need to be doing things better than the “other guy” not using his same dirty tactics.

And Huston is using dirty journalism here.
But that’s what he does. It’s a habit with him.
Which is one of the many reasons he was banned from FR in the first place.

Libs are such shameless liars, opportunists and users. For a long time now, the shameless lovers of muslim slaveholders and murderers have spewed hatred and disdain for Jefferson because he owned slaves. Ditto the other southern Founding Fathers. But they have no scruples against briefly lauding Jefferson, if they can use him in perpetrating a whopper that can be twisted around to honor and suck up to our mortal enemy; islam and sharia law slavery!

This is what Huston wrote:

"The often-used claim that Thomas Jefferson held the first Iftar dinner at the White House was trotted out by the Post’s Wang."

This is what Wang wrote:

"Jefferson’s decision to change the time of the meal to accommodate Mellimelli’s observance of Ramadan has been seized on by both sides in the 21st-century debate over Islam more than 200 years later. Historians have cited the meal as the first time an iftar took place in the White House — and it has been referenced in recent White House celebrations of Ramadan as an embodiment of the Founding Father’s respect for religious freedom. Meanwhile, critics on the far right have taken issue with the characterization of Jefferson’s Dec. 9, 1805, dinner as an iftar.

Whatever Jefferson could have foreseen for the young country’s future, it appears the modern-day White House tradition of marking Ramadan with an iftar dinner or Eid celebration has come to an end."

Read both carefully and ask yourself - "Who is doing the mischaracterizing here?"

Personally the only thing I find offensive is the use of the word "Historians" juxtaposed to the words "far right"

In any event she makes it clear that he "tradition" is a modern day one.
