LONDON (AP) — London police, already stretched by a series of major incidents around the capital, are putting more officers on the street to reassure the public after a driver plowed into a crowd of people leaving a mosque early Monday. One man died at the scene and 10 people were injured.
Police say a suspect was arrested immediately after the attack, which is being treated as a terrorist incident.
"Extra officers are on duty in the area to help reassure the local community," Police Commissioner Cressida Dick said. "They will be there for as long as they are needed. Communities will see additional officers patrolling across the city and at Muslim places of worship."
Police said the 48-year-old man who was driving the van has been arrested and taken to a hospital as a precaution. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. It was not immediately clear why no charge had been made in relation to the one death.

Last night there were reports that the driver (or a passenger?) got out after the van hit people and started stabbing/cutting with a knife.
I still haven’t heard that detail in any radio news or discussion coverage.

What is the driver was the Father of someone killed in Manchester or the bridge or the stabbing attack and got drunk after having his father’s day without his kid...
If they released the guy’s name it would be connected to a victim and everyone would say “Yeah he was justified in a fit a grief”

I looked at a couple ‘recent’ reports online (via google news search). Washington Post, CNN, and Daily Mail.
Some details are starting to emerge.
An elderly man collapsed prior to the attack. It’s unclear if he was collapsed because of the heat or a health condition. He was being attended to when the driver struck. Apparently he died afterwards. It’s still unclear whether he was hit in the incident.
I’ve seen no further remarks reported about “knives” at the scene and while one report indicates there may have been 2 passengers who fled the scene, I didn’t see any reference to them attacking those on the street.
I’ve seen it reported as a rental van (and in some incidents vehicles have been stolen). The name of the company on the van has been released, the owner of the company refused to talk to the media.
Video from the scene of the attack is circulating. Daily Mail has some links to footage.
Daily Mail said that police responded to the scene in 8 minutes, an iman or someone said that he had to hold the driver for 30 minutes.
The mosque reportedly was a former hotbed for extremism but reports also say that has ended over a decade ago.
Nothing would justify vigilantism.
No charge for the one death because the deceased was already being attended to before the attack. They are trying to determine if the impact with the crowd had any effect on the elderly man.
Islamic terrorists have killed 1263 people in the last 23 days alone.
To equate the threat of ‘right wing terror’ with that is dishonest.
