The Arizona sheriff investigating the Tucson shooting that left U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords critically wounded had harsh words today for those engaging in political rhetoric, calling conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh "irresponsible" for continuing the vitriol.
"The kind of rhetoric that flows from people like Rush Limbaugh, in my judgment he is irresponsible, uses partial information, sometimes wrong information," Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik said today. "[Limbaugh] attacks people, angers them against government, angers them against elected officials and that kind of behavior in my opinion is not without consequences."
Limbaugh today railed against the media and Dupnik for trying to draw a link between the heated political climate and the shooting rampage, calling the sheriff a "fool." But Dupnik stood by his assertions.
"The vitriol affects the [unstable] personality that we are talking about," he said. "You can say, 'Oh no, it doesn't,' but my opinion is that it does."

A ship named after her is the ultimate slap in the face to many real Naval/military heroes.
Her husband is a retired navy officer and is very political, so with her name on the vessel, is his name too.
It makes no sense to me to name a ship after a living person. Imagine what would be happening now if there had been a ESS Bill Cosby...time for a name change. The Navy should wait for people to be dead, and gone long enough for their legacy to be settled, before naming a ship after them.
Rush is one of the few sources of truth. So, sheriff, shut up.
I seriously doubt that the Navy had any say in the naming. That decision was made before the Kenyan was out of office, most likely when the keel was laid.
Rush was blamed for OK City too.
Rush never acted out shooting Clinton in a Shakespeare play. Rush never even held a fake bloody Clinton head. BUT THE LEFT WAS UNITED in blaming Limbaugh for violence then.
The sheriff must be an anti-constitutionalist because the first thing he attacks is free speech. He blames Limbaugh for someone else’s actions. In order for our government to work, people MUST own their own actions..IE govern themselves. Then the people are in a position to have a government for the people, by the people.
Mr. Arizona lawman seems to have forgotten this, perhaps never knew it in the first place.

Dupnik has retired. He was throughout his career a Democrat hack.
No, the ship is named USS Gabrielle Giffords. The USS The Sullivans and USS John S. McCain are the only current ships I know of named for two individuals.
