The R&R to which I refer was guys coming to Bkk from Nam. Petchburi Road had a one mile long strip with 26 bars catering to them. That was known to us stationed there as the "R&R Strip." Some of us preferred "The strip" to the local bars near tourist areas, or near hotels. There were also high class real night clubs. Along with "high class" went high priced, so mostly we avoided those.
My motive for frequenting the "R&R strip" was two fold. The girls working there were usually younger and prettier. Second, they were used to Johns who had zero command of Thai, so talked to each other as though we couldn't understand their language. Lots of valuable Humint could be gained from that situation.
