Germany just voted this week to pull out their troops from Turkey’s bases as well.....

Erdogan has been boxed in in many respects......and we know he gave the order when visiting here for his thugs to go after the Kurds who were protesting.

HE’s making many enemies and doesn’t care as he’s trying to hold onto his caliphat......how close is Erdogan now to Russia?...they’ve been spatting back and forth over Syria and other issues for awhile.

The biggest heads up was the Islamic invasion into Europe I think.......and the breaking down of the EU....Brexit and such.....there’s ore yet to get in place before things are where they need to be.....I suspect we’ll be out of here by then.

New alignment is forming:

Sunni block #1: US, Saudis, UAE, Israel, Egypt.

Sunni block #2: Turkey, Azeris, Qatar, AQ/Muslim brotherhood.

I assume Hamas is in #2 too.

Wow.

Turkey is a NATO member in bed with Russia and Iran that is moving troops into Qatar during the Saudi threats. Sure seems like a somewhat big deal to me.

Block 2 you forgot Russia and Iran. (Yes I know they aren’t Sunni. )

I guess this struggle will push/pull Qatar and Turkey either to side with the West, or against it - no more playing both sides.

Qatar is first.

“This is starting to resemble the run up to World War One.” Not really. People tend to exaggerate about these things way too much.

Well said. If not for hyperbole some folks would not have much to say.

Well, the US has a significantly large military base in Qatar, so it might not be that easy.

I'm no fan of the Saudis but if the Turks are ramping up the war with our large trading partner, should be just maybe consider kicking Turkey out of NATO?

I’ve long since lost track of factions in that part of the world. Ramp up nuclear power and domestic hydrocarbons and the only thing of strategic interest becomes the Suez canal. Except of course Israel. Something tells me they can handle themselves.

Yes, and get the US the hell out of there. The threat to us is Islam here. We need to ban Islam, close mosques, deport Muslims, and let them have their perpetual wars there. Bring US troops home and put them on our borders. There are no good guys in any Muslim country, so why are we wasting our good people fighting for any of them?

I agree with CMB. These fast moving crises - pulling in different alliance blocks - are very ominous.

The same point was made, back in May 2017 by a highly placed Australian military man:

Former defence force chief Chris Barrie says the world is on a countdown to war and a “complacent” Australia will not be ready when it comes.

Admiral Barrie warned that Australia had been involved in “proxy wars” in Afghanistan and the Middle East in the past two decades, but the potential flashpoints for international-scale conflict reminded him of the build-up to World War I.

Yes indeed. Turkey should have been kicked out of NATO when it engaged in aggression against Syria. And again when it opened its borders for ‘refugees’ to transit to Europe (against international conventions - allowing people to cross borders without visa documents.)

But it is not too late. Kick them out now.
