I thought ‘boredom’ was going to mean about 70% of the preferred jobs are now being done by computer or robotic systems. Having your transfer application denied w/o explanation can lead to intense frustration, which is very similar to boredom.

Too many females?

Females make everything cool seem childish.

No one else has nuclear carriers.

A few others have nuclear subs.

European navies have never placed the importance on range that the USN does. They generally don’t have to worry about traversing the Pacific.

Nuclear surface ships are a joke and a waste of money. An exotic way to boil water. A conventional carrier has the exact same capabilities as a nuclear carrier.

All US full size carriers are nuclear.

A submarine that is non nuclear is not a full time submersible. WW 2 technology.

A 30 year fuel supply is not a waste of money. How much oil would be used on a giant carrier in 30 years.

Between the initial cost, the increased crew training needed and the dangers of damage control on a nuclear reactor there is not much difference.

My understanding was that nuclear powered USS carriers can go 5 years without refueling.

That right there would make it very different than a conventionally powered carrier.

The CVN is 50% more expensive to build. It requires MUCH more training for the crew. Port visits are a problem because nobody wants them. Knowing what I know about naval damage control, nuclear surface ships are suicide traps in wartime.
