A post-86 registered Thompson has essentially no market and is virtually worthless in comparison. Unless you torch the receiver and part it out. In which case it can bring in $2000-$2500.

While in RVN I held a “Tommy Gun”, in a Navy Arms Room, that had a SINGLE digit serial number!! (It was old.)

That’s been happening to some G1 rifles (German contract FN-FALs) that were imported intact and registered post-86. The “investors” have found that there’s no LEO market for a 60+ year old select-fire battle rifle design (especially when rifles can be had free from Uncle Sugar, or a modern FN SCAR or similar can be had for the same money), so they’ve been cutting the receiver and selling the parts kits to recoup at least some of their money.
