Alderman Walter Burnett (27th) served two years in prison for armed bank robbery. He is eligible to serve in the Chicago City Council notwithstanding his felony conviction because he obtained a gubernatorial pardon that reinstated his civil rights.
Not that the underlying arrest and conviction were improper or incorrect, mind you, but simply because he was a seventeen year old when he was arrested.
Whitey’s Fault? *SMIRK*
I Stand With President Trump!
Idiots. Perhaps they can get Kathy Griffin to speak at their next town council meeting.
These people really do live in a bubble.
The state has been downgraded 17 times and has the worst financial solvency rating in the country.
I am glad I moved out of that sorry political climate. Suffocating.
What a group of pathetic, sniveling fools. In chicago “leader” = “loser”. Hahaha. I guess the majority of voters there deserve this lunacy as they are lunatics.
These guys?
The Sun-Times reports parking meters brought in $121.7 million last year and city-run garages took in $34.7 million. But thanks to Mayor Richard M. Daley’s 2008 deal to lease the meters and garages to a private company formed by big banks (some of which have been long-term investors in current Mayor Rahm Emanuels political career) Chicago will see none of that cash.
In 2008, Daley signed over the next 75 years of meter money to Chicago Parking Meters, a consortium led by banking behemoth Morgan Stanley, in a move that only five members of the City Council opposed at the time. Since then, rates have skyrocketed (downtown areas more than doubled in cost to $6.50 an hour by 2013) and the company has netted $778.6 million in revenue. By 2020, the company will have made back its initial $1.15 billion investment and will continue to profit for 60 years.
How many of the aldermen are wearing dashikis? Would love to see a photo of them. Those idiots make Mad Maxine Waters look almost same.
In case you didn’t know, here is how aldermen are chosen in Chicago : people in each ward determine who is the person among them who are laziest, and have the lowest morals and bran power, and elects them to the City Council. That isn’t as easy as it sounds, considering the average Chicago voter. There could be tonS of potential aldermen in each ward. That also explains why ChicagoanS seem to be as pleased as punch with their municipal government .
If Chicago were a War Zone, we would have pulled out by now. The cost is just too high.
Kathy Griffin (the largely talentless comedienne) is a product of the liberal Chicago suburb of Oak Park, Illinois.
Maybe there is something in the water.
sane....
Chicago’s last Republican mayor left office in 1931. All of the epic waste and mismanagement is Democratic made and manufactured.
Interestingly, many of the major public works projects constructed by the last Republican are still intact and in regular use.
Those are the only people stupid enough to sign this embarrassing BS!
These idiots need the baseball bat treatment that Joe Pesci got in Casino.
Well. Less their hearts
Incorrect. The sponsor of the resolution is white as are a number of the signatories.
I’d worry about fixing $h**cago first.
Note the guy that hit him first with the bat was the guy that played Billy Batts in "Goodfellas". Guess he got his revenge, LOL!
Gee, they still call the position 'Alderman,' how sexist! At least we know that there were 20 that did NOT sign this toilet paper! Of course they might not have shown up that day or were in the drunk tank or some other excuse!
FYI: Another stat for Chicago to be proud of ; it costs $6.50 per hour to park in Chicago BUT Mayor Dailey(the younger) sold the revenue stream in 2009 and thus the city gets no revenue from it but does from the fines for over-parking! No wonder fast-food workers want higher minimum wage!
I wonder what the offical Vegas over/under is on the count? Can the homies break 900? Is it doable? Stay tuned and keep your fingers crossed …
