There was a similar dilemma with the U.S. embassy in Berlin during the Cold War when the city was partitioned.

I was stationed at the US Mission Berlin for four years in the mid 80s. The 1971 Quad-tripartite Agreement was used to govern Berlin, which was considered an occupied city administered by the Americans, British, and French in West Berlin and the Russians in East Berlin. There were plenty of rules and regulations that we called the Berlin theology. It mattered who stamped your passport and how you entered the city if you were an American government employee.

There were plenty of anomalies and arcane procedures. For example, we had the Berlin Air Safety Center (BASC) that was manned by British, French, American and Russian officers sitting side by side giving flight clearances to planes entering the various approved corridors to enter Berlin. The Germans paid for all the costs incurred by the allies in administering the city. The elimination of the Wall and the reunification of Germany resolved the status of Berlin. Until then, it was still an occupied city. And our Embassy was then moved from Bonn to Berlin.

Actually it required positive action o the Presidents part to stop the Embassy being moved. If he had done nothing then it would have been moved by law.

From the spin I've read online, it appears that its OK for Trump to use the same tactic because God himself somehow spoke to Trump and TOLD HIM when would be the "right time" to move the Embassy, and that will happen sometime during Trump's administration, but not now. Trump is just waiting on God to give the go ahead. And God spoke to Trump personally about this, but he didn't speak to Bush. George W. Bush just delayed it on his own, cuz he's a RINO.

Interesting enough, none of the "God is guiding Trump when to move the embassy" crowd is willing to bet REAL money that the move will indeed be completed DURING Trump's presidency. I guess God told them not to put their money where their mouth is.

Honestly, I've met a number of conservatives who seem to sincerely believe that God himself is whispering to Trump and telling him when and how to do stuff. If Trump decides to "delay" any of his campaign promises, it's only because he got the memo from God and is just waiting for God to tell him when to proceed on that.

My own mother is starting to believe the "God tells Trump what to do" stuff. It's getting downright creepy.

I don't recall even the most fervent Christians arguing that God told George W. Bush what to do. Saying "Thank God George W. Bush was our president on 9/11" was a far cry from "Bush created the Dept. of Homeland Security because God wanted it"
