Crammed on to a ship with a normal capacity of 600, almost 1,500 migrants arrive in Italy after being rescued from rickety vessels in the Mediterranean.
Their nightmare ended as they landed in Naples yesterday after being forced to endure an extra two days on board because of the G7 summit in Sicily.
The nearest port to where they were picked up was on the island, but the vessel was not allowed to dock there because of the tight security in place for the meeting of world leaders.

Last week a leaked intelligence report said 6.6million are waiting to cross into Europe. One million are in Libya and 3.3million more are in Turkey.

I would encourage you to double check your history. Islam has taken over one great civilization after another that was infinitely superior to any Islamic society technologically, economically, militarily, and in virtually every other way — all of the great civilizations conquered by Alexander the Great and ruled following his death by his generals. And I don’t believe that any of them managed to escape it — aside from at least temporarily moving to a somewhat more moderate version of Islam (a la Turkey (now moving full steam toward a theocracy) and Egypt, which came very close to being theocratized by Morsi.
Europe, thanks, I understand, to Jan Sobieski, the king of Poland, and Leopold, the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and similar heroics in Spain saved Europe from the same fate — which birth rates alone are likely to reverse within 30 years.
Europe was the rare exception. We’ll see if the U.S. wakes up before it’s too late. I’m inclined to think that that’s highly unlikely.

The actual Scramble for Africa (no less of an invasion than what is taking place today), was to secure resources, outlets for goods, converts to the church (minor point) and strategic advantage over rival empires.

Dude where the hell are you citing this? Outside of Britain and maybe France, not one European power was remotely interested in doing anything other than what I cited above. Extract resources, sell stuff to the natives though exclusive treaties, and obtain strategic advantage, or in Italy’s case, just to look like you could hold colonies.
