Please state your sources for your information. I will wait to hear your response, but it took me about 13 seconds to realize you are presenting things as factual that are not.

For the record, I am neither a gay man, nor HIV infected. I am, however, an Infectious Diseases nurse with over 25 years experience in my field.

I can’t vouch for ingesting silver but I can vouch for it’s use in external environments, for door handles and such, even woven into fabric. Kills bacteria and fungus, period. No mutation into immunity with that. Same with gold and even copper to a lesser extent. PM’s are going to skyrocket if “superbugs” get well and truly out of hand. Good old chlorine bleach will cease to be discredited, too.

This is kind of beyond dispute and has been since the 1980s.

First off, there is documented oral history of some of the early AIDS victims, including a French flight attendant on the Africa to San Francisco and NY routes and who is considered a potential candidate for the AIDS Patient Zero.

He happily recounts how he and is HIV positive buddies would go out causing the Gay Bathhouses of the Castro immediately after getting antibiotic shots for Syphilis, Gonorrhea and a host of illnesses related to “Gay Cancer” and immune deficient related infections.

There have been many of stories in the Examiner and other sources as far back as the early 1980’s reporting on irresponsible and unethical AIDS activist doctors in the pre and post AZT era who were clandestinely providing their HIV positive patients with massive doses of cocktails of multiple types of very strong antibiotics to fight off and protect from infections. The articles specifically liked this unethical abuse of antibiotics to the rise of drug resistant strains of various diseases , especially those infections most commonly associated with AIDS patients.

Frequent sexual contact and group sex in the Gay community combined with the popularity of “manscaping” a trendy fashion in gay men that includes frequent shaving of all body hair combined with piercings and other associated weirdness gives rise to persistent staph and fungal infections that take hold in immune compromised men that eventually become very aggressive and very drug resistant. This accounts for the rise of the drug resistant flesh eating staph infections, the fungal infections and chronic drug resistant urinary tract infection plaguing the gay community and breaking out into the wider population, often through nosocomial infections. In general, the rise of these nasty, drug resistant infections are first noted as isolated outbreaks of mini epidemics in the gay community which then spread into the general population, often through nosocomial vectors as viral, bacterial, and fungal pathogens; the most common types of which are bloodstream infection (BSI), pneumonia (eg, ventilator-associated pneumonia [VAP]), urinary tract infection (UTI), and surgical site infection (SSI).

The rise of effective retroviral /antibiotic cocktails has allowed very promiscuous young homosexuals to remain healthy and symptom free for many years and often decades with active HIV .

This allows these young men to continue to engage in frequent unsafe sex with often hundreds of anonymous partners while being infected with HIV and chronic, reoccurring bacteriological infections kept at bay by massive doses of antibiotics.

They even have a name for these men, “bug chasers”, whose motto on AIDS is “get it and get it over with” - in other words , intentionally get infected with AIDS so they no longer face the anxiety of getting AIDS during unprotected, unsafe sex and then rely on AIDS treatments including potent antibiotic cocktails to keep them healthy while they pursue hyper promiscuous ,indiscriminate, unprotected and often group unsafe sex with other HIV positive men, despite the fact that this makes them walking petri dishes for multiple drug resistant microbes . It's getting worse and worse in both then gay and straight communities with the advent of anonymous "Hook Up" apps like grinder and tinder and the current gender bending and gay cool cultural messages are creating more frequent bi sexual encounters which are crossing traditionally gay community strains of STDs and microbial infections into the heterosexual world

BTW, I to have a medical background too - and it includes working with some of the earliest green field AIDS cases and AIDs patients in the Bay Area during the height of the Castro Era AIDS epidemic and you are either uninformed of the dynamics in the gay community , in denial or being less than candid.

Some organisms are resistant to bleach, and even more are resistant to ethanol. But the primary issue with the drain is that it is full of irregular surfaces that are very hard to disinfect. A drain cannot be submerged (at least while attached to the sink), and the disinfectants simply cannot cover the entire interior or penetrate all of the irregularities to kill the hidden germs.

I carry C. Diff, but it’s dormant right now, thanks to taking a course of probiotics. No more antibiotics for my acne, even though acne can sometimes make my face look like the surface of the moon, since antibiotics would kill the good bacteria in my colon and let the C. Diff run wild. And when I do need an antibiotic for something else, I must take a probiotic alongside.

C. Diff is also common in hospitals, and it cannot be killed with antibacterial solutions. However, it can be killed with soap, so remember, doctors and nurses, always wash your hands thoroughly after handling a patient.

I’m guessing that I picked up my C. Diff from an imperfectly cleaned colonoscope in 2014. Had no problems before that colonoscopy, and then I took antibiotics for Bronchitis in early 2015 and BOOM! There it was.

I simply took probiotics for my case, as recommended by my gastroenterologist. They did the trick: no more diarrhea or other symptoms, but sadly, I still carry it, which means I could suffer another attack if I don’t pay attention to what I put in my body.

OK, I accept your response, and thank you for your time. However, here you are are discussing the origins of the disease, which weren’t the topic of your first post.

What I specifically took issue with in your original post were 2 things:

(1) your use of the word “eradicate” as it relates to HIV/AIDS. As a DNA retrovirus, HIV cannot (currently) be eradicated. It can generally be suppressed, but not eradicated. It sounds like I don’t need to describe to you the successes in the field of RNA viruses (such as HCV) to demonstrate how far ARV medicine has come in the last 5 years, but DNA viruses remain elusive in achieving cure by their very genetic structure and their ability to express wild type mutations. Promiscuity among gay men may have been a contributing factor to the spread in the early days of AIDS, but that’s not the reason AIDS has not yet been cured now. We can’t cure the common cold yet, either.

(2) I’m having a bit of a hard time finding much credible information about irresponsible and unethical AIDS activist doctors. And the EXAMINER as a source of FACT? From the 1980’s? I’m at a bit of a loss for words on that. I don’t see how stories from journalistic rags from 30 something years ago are relevant to medicine today. I find the Oxford Academic “Journal of Infectious Diseases” to be more useful resource.

Don’t get me wrong: A recent issue of a magazine supporting Transgender Healthcare left me shaking my head in dismay. The interviews, discussions and even the cover photo were a very sad commentary. In the name of “accept me as I am,” people now take loud-mouthed pride in behaviors that not so very long ago were sinful and shameful.

Perhaps I misunderstood your intent or comments, but I don’t accept blaming “irresponsible doctors” for not eradicating AIDS, and I do not think promiscuous gay men are the biggest problem in AIDS medicine right now. I don’t think any ONE thing can be identified as THE big problem: lack of access to healthcare, cost of medications, viral mutations, promiscuous behavior, noncompliance with medications, bad luck....the list goes on and one...

Let’s approach it from a realistic perspective, not a sensationalized one with outdated information.

Causes fungal infections, so it’s fungal. But, might as well be viewed as a germ because exposure can be catastrophic. We are exposed to germs and different forms of fungi everyday. This one is in a league of its own.

Not sure. But not long ago I was hospitalized a month at a time several times. Bleach and water was being used in my unit daily. (I didn’t ask, but the smell gave it away)

C-diff is serious and can lead to dehydration pretty quick. You must have been miserable. I hope it is clearing up.

I don’t think even going to an Israeli hospital will lower the chances of cdiff.

I get treatment at a unit in a hospital. The unit moved several floors. They purchased all new equipment, file cabinets, vital machines (for bp, temp, O2) computers, their breakroom microwave, etc) Not a single item was allowed to go to the new area as to not carry any germs thru the hospital. Expensive move, but wise.

No, they do not respond to antibiotics.

But, there are anti-fungal that work on these type of fungal infections. But, just as some superbugs are not responding well to antibiotics. This particular fungus is pretty stubborn to the strong antifungal meds available, (i.e. Voriconazole).

“antibiotics for Bronchitis in early 2015 and BOOM! “

I’ve never heard of antibiotics being prescribed for bronchitis.

The early aids epidemic helped accelerate the making anti- viral and anti-fungal drugs. These drugs now help cancer patients while their immune system is low. Because of these drugs that came from the aids epudemic, cancer patients now have access to important drugs and help them thru infections that may have caused them to die. The anti- vitals are also used for shingals.

There is viral and bacterial bronchitis. Also, if the virus turns into an infection, antibiotics would be used. Same as if a viral common cold leads to a sinus infection, antibiotics would be used.
