It’s always a good day when gun sense prevails in Olympia.

Thanks to the passage of House Bill 1501, police and victims will now get notification if a felon, fugitive or someone who’s the subject of a court protection order illegally attempts to buy a firearm.

There’s little doubt this upgraded notification system will save lives. Victims of domestic violence in particular can breathe a sigh of relief.

Once again, the "we know better than you crowd" in washington state use their "common sense" approach. This is such an awesome thing that they'll probably no longer need any laws against murder. After all, there's little doubt that it will be needed. Right? Fidiots. The usual claims with no proof. You remember. Domestic violence victims are a million more times likely to have something happen to them. Or something.

“Gun control” is never about guns. It’s about control.

“Gun” is the adjective that describes this particular brand of control.

They can’t do to us, what they want to do to us, as long as we can defend ourselves.

It must be something in the air and/or water up there if anyone thinks this will really work. Does anyone who supports this stupid bill really believe that the felon, crook, fugitive or subject of a court order really walks openly into the local GUN EMPORIUM to legally buy a firearm?
This is a prime example of “Do Gooders” passing laws that even they know will not have any effect on the problem at hand.
It does, however, enable them to feel good about themselves as they smile at each other, happy in the knowledge that they “have done something” to be proud of.
IDIOTS.

The law does nothing to prevent a felon from buying a gun. All the felon does is simply “cash and carry” from some thief who stole one.
It new law simply gives the law enforcement the authority to arrest the person for doing it, it does not prevent it.
It does make the controllers feel so good about themselves, that they are doing something about crime even though it is nothing.

There’s little doubt this upgraded notification system will save lives.

Actually, I'd say there's enormous doubt.

Hmmm. “There is little doubt this new ‘common sense’ legislation will have much impact.” That looks more real world to me.

They may not be complete idiots. I’m sure they have a plan. Somehow, this law, which will become precedent, will be a camel’s nose under the tent, and cited as justification for more damaging laws.

Felons, unless they are truly stupid, will not attempt to buy a gun at an FFL (gun store). They will buy it from the gangbanger who stole it from somebody else. And by the way, criminals don’t register guns. Washington state is full of slobbering socialists and state-worshippers. Only people from Washington I’ve met with some sense are those from the Spokane Valley area (not the city itself, which is full of the same kind of statist and government dependents).

Ha, the notification would only result from a felon trying to buy a gun through LEGAL channels. That’s not how they get their guns.
