So he’s basically saying that the Congress, in spite of everything they say, have no intention of passing a budget between now and then.

Why not veto the current budget?

If he’s not willing to shut the government down over this crummy budget deal now then why should we believe he’ll shut it down in October?

Because in September, it'll be HIS budget. It'll be Trump's very own first brand spanking-new budget that he will control and present to Congress. It will have none of the residue leftover from Obama and the leftist groups will get the shaft.

Ryan has already given these clowns the store which was done during Obama's last days in office so you might as well fund the government up to the new Fiscal Year. Now if the CR would have funded the government until the end of the calendar year or into next year, then yes, I'd be calling for the GOP's heads too right now and urging Trump to veto.

If a shut down is good for September, it is good for May.

We are just over halfway in a Fiscal Year from the last POS administration.

Why would you want to fight for cuts now, when in 5 mere months you can go to war and start eliminating entire departments and orgs and present a clean budget to Congress.

This is Ivanka ,Jared, Reice P ,and that Goldman Sach snakes idea winning out .

Lib NYC Dem run the WH now and one Uniparty snake .

Then why is he claiming all sorts of credit for this one? Trump made it clear what he wanted weeks ago: $50 billion plus for defense, $50 billion plus in discretionary spending cuts. He got neither and he's going to sign it. Face it, plop it on his desk, call it a deal, and Trump will sign anything.

So he’s basically saying that the Congress, in spite of everything they say, have no intention of passing a budget between now and then.

Do you even know what a Fiscal Year is?

There hasn't been a real budget submitted and passed by Congress since the middle of the last decade.

All we have had is these Continual Resolutions that push government to the brink, get people riled up, let consultants and "strategists" get on news shows to spew their bile about how evil Republicans are.

This CR expires at the end of the Fiscal Year. Then Trump can present a budget to Congress that prioritizes his agenda, not the Left's.

If the Dems threaten shutdown, then let them. Let them pound sand while Trump can explain to the American people how we need to go back to balanced budgets.

I’ll bet this freaking can gets kicked down the road in September as well! Pence was on Rush’s show today bragging about working with the Democrats!

Pfft!

Again you fail to see how Trump does things.

The $50 billion was just a classic Trump negotiating tactic. He's got the money for defense and for border security in this CR, which will pay to refurbish whatever fence or wall is on the border now.

The real war is in September. That's when Mulvaney is going to release the Kraken and present a real budget to Congress. The Left will howl but they won't have a leg to stand on because they've gotten what they wanted in this CR.

The same exact thing that just happened is going to happen again in September.

And Mike Pence will go on somewhere and tell us how it was a win.

Sorry, but he needs to stop this now...Not in in the October!

I don't think so. I think Trump is already looking at the 2018 map and will dare Congressional Republicans to support big government programs. There will be a sea of GOP primary opponents next year, and end of September is the perfect time to start preparing for office.

To which I say, pull the other one. It's got bells on it.

- The CR is DEAD. There will be no more CRs. We will return to a sane budget process as envisioned by our Founders.
***************************************************

I will believe it when I see it.
We have not had a budget in 8 years.

Why would you want to fight for spending cuts on spending that's going to expire in 5 months

Because we control Congress and the Executive branches of government. Democrats wouldn't have given an inch, but we gave everything. You also embolden your enemies when you show weakness and an unwillingness to fight. September will be that much more difficult thanks to going weak-kneed today.

I don't believe Trump ever read Sun Tzu so I don't believe in some grand strategy here. The CR was nothing more than losing, lots of losing. You can hope that Trump and other republicans find their spine between now and September, but I've seen this movie far too many times.

Oh yeah, the incumbents will each face 9-17 primary opponents, and every last one of them will be re-elected, and there is no sane reason to expect people who never, ever, EVER fight to all of a sudden fight.

They are going to lose and then tell us how they won.

Sorry dude, but I’ve had it with people like you insisting we deny what we’re seeing! I’m sure you were defending Trump’s support for Ryancare too...right?

This is bull shit!
