The Bible is, first of all, a history book. That it contains an uncommon amount of accumulated wisdom and examples of what NOT to do, makes it also an instruction manual for the human race.
So are ALL history books and instruction manuals “works of fiction”?
Are we to also hold legal codes and dietary instructions to be “works of fiction”?
The first half of the Bible, the Old Testament, does not even mention Jesus Christ by name, but only alludes to “the One who is coming” according to the various prophecies scattered through the Old Testament.
The New Testament is the chronicle of “prophecies fulfilled”, and is prologue of things yet to come.
The Bible is, second of all, a history book.
After these corrections, I would agree with the rest of your post.
