Trump order could open California coast, Arctic to new oil and gas drilling

President Trump on Friday is expected to sign an executive order that could open large parts of the Pacific, Arctic and Atlantic oceans to new oil and gas drilling, a prospect that elicited a fierce backlash in California and elsewhere even before details of the order were clear.

The move, which is certain to face legal and political challenges, could undo a plan finalized late in President Obama’s second term that sought to limit fossil fuel development and fight climate change by not including new drilling leases off the coast of California or Alaska during the current five-year federal offshore plan, which extends through 2022.

There’s so much oil and tar off the California coast that it’s not uncommon to pick up tar on your feet when you walk the beach.

Up near Santa Barbara there are a lot of wells. At night it’s interesting to see the oil platform lights off in the distance.

Hey, Californian’s use gasoline. Why should other states be the only ones who can supply it?

There’ll be a ‘gold rush’ of lawyers to California.
The state will be soon be spending more on lawyers than anything else.

.
The tar on the beach north of Santa Barbara used to be much worse before offshore drilling began.

The drilling has reduced the overall level pressure thus reducing the seepage.

Put an oil-drilling rig in the beachfront backyard of each Hollywood Liberal.

Just because.

I wasn’t aware of that. Thanks for mentioning it.

Are you aware of that big tar bluff just north of Carpenteria?

Right there on the beach, is a bluff and it’s got tar oozing out of it.

The Greenies in Cali should be doing all they can to get those billions of trees logged that died over the extended draught. If they go up this summer, drilling will be the least of their concern.

Well, if they want to keep legislating from the bench, they will soon be choking on their usurped role.
