49ers Eric Reid speaks up for Colin Kaepernick, shares plan for national anthem

Eric Reid, who was first to join Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protest last year, will not be continuing that gesture this season.

“When we started doing that, our goal was to open up the floor to conversation. I believe we’ve achieved that goal,” Reid said Wednesday at 49ers minicamp. “So now we just want to move forward and just partner with people that want to make a change.”

Unlike Kaepernick, Reid still plays for the 49ers and he is miffed that the polarizing quarterback remains unemployed after opting out of his contract nearly two months ago. Reid believes Kaepernick’s status is directly related to the national anthem protest, which Kaepernick reportedly won’t continue either this season, assuming he lands on a new team.

“It’s unfortunate, it’s sad. People are shying away from him for media and (public relations) reasons,” Reid said. “It’s said. You’re doing something to better the world.

Eric Reid, who use to play for LSU, is absolutely despised by the LSU fans I know. What a traitor.

Eric Reid is not that good. 1st round draft pick. He should concentrate on his game. If his play does not send him out of the league concussions will.

He has a big future as is doomed to end up as Cleveland's mid season replacement QB.

The locker room entrance has a sign
“THROUGH me you pass into the city of woe:
Through me you pass into eternal pain:
Through me among the people lost for aye.
All hope abandon, ye who enter here.”

Hey Colin, There’s a fish market in Seattle that is known for throwing fish around.
Check’em out, may be hiring.

Reid needs to understand that politics does NOT belong in sports. Sports provide a distraction from the constant noise of politics.

Damage already done by Reid probably will not bring back some fans disgusted with ESPN and the NFL.

ISN'T that too bad.

Meanwhile, the 49ers acquired Matt Barkley (USC), a staunchly patriotic QB. Best of luck to him!

“Reid believes Kaepernick’s status is directly related to the national anthem protest”

I wonder if Reid thunk that up all by himself?

I assume that’s hung over the special door to the locker room that’s just for quarterbacks (and coaches)?

The last thing an NFL team (or ANY business) needs is locker room drama.

Conversation? Conversation?

They want everyone to agree with them-——hardly a conversation.
