Kennedy, the swinger, is no big help for conservatives.

She will soon walk out with Justice Kennedy out of the USSC building into retirement at the end of the term.

Justice Thomas is also getting there in years.

I think all conservative justices should retire during Trump's first term. Trump can be trusted with the court, so why not let him appoint younger replacements? It can be the Trump court for 30 years.

IIRC Kennedy and RBG have both cited international law as proper to consult in interpreting the US Constitution. Good riddance.

If Trump keeps his word, as he has already done, 5 to 4 is going to have a whole different meaning.

If Kennedy or one of the hard-code libs can be replaced with a conservative, we might have a shot at saving the Second Amendment, which is being systematically destroyed in the blue states because SCOTUS won’t defend even the most basic parts of Heller.

I know many here dislike Cruz intensely. And I really don't think he wants to be on SCOTUS. But just imagine if Pres. Trump nominated him? LOL! What hell raising would occur! Demwits would gnash their teeth, projectile vomit, and have petit mal seizures like Hillary!

Cruz favors a National Right to Work Law. Major tax reform. He is rated A+ by GOA/NRA. We would all be glued to C-SPAN!

Yes. Going from memory, he seemed conservative sometimes on economic, financial issues, but on social issues he was on the side of the Devil.

I would really like Kennedy to go first, because replacing him with a more conservative R would by itself significantly shift the Court, and while Dems would of course scream and cry, in the end replacing an R with another R wouldn’t be as hard.

If Buzzi croaks, the fight to replace her with a conservative will be Armageddon.

I had a lot of concerns about Cruz in the campaign, but I think he’d be fine on the bench.

Could he get confirmed, though? Seems like more than a normal % of senators dislike him.

Cruz’ main problem to me is he didn’t give a crap about the Natural Born Citizen clause. Born in CA to a foreign father - and still thought he was okay to run for pres. His actual citizenship history is unknown as he refused to make any docs public other than one which I can’t remember. At the very least he was a dual citizen most of his life, and it is actually unknown when he obtained US citizenship, whether at birth or not.

So that dishonesty disqualifies him totally in my view.

Supposed a natural born citizenship case came up. Cruz is bad on that 100%.

He’s not a moderate. He’s a libertarianist republican.
