At least three people have been killed in protests against the government of President Nicolas Maduro.
A teenager in the capital of Caracas and a woman in San Cristobal, near the Colombian border, were shot dead.....
Tens of thousands of people rallied to demand new presidential elections and the release of jailed opposition politicians. Mr. Maduro accused the opposition of attacking police.
He also accused them of looting shops.....
Meanwhile, opposition leader Henrique Capriles has called for further protests on Thursday.
Despite having the world's largest proven oil reserves, Venezuela has suffered for several years from high inflation, rampant crime and a shortage of basic goods...

Yesterday (April 19) was not just the anniversary of Lexington and Concord in our country (1775), but the anniversary of Venezuela's quest for independence from Spain in 1810.
Now Venezuelan's are struggling to gain independence from the Cuban Communist grip imposed on them by Chavez and now Maduro. These protests have been called a "Second Independence Day" for the country.
The government's crackdown yesterday was obvious for all to see.
The government is claiming one of its own was killed in the protests, but like all Communist regime's it claims those opposing it are violent and extreme.
Heck, they sound like what our government officials were saying about Ammon Bundy in Oregon last year. But of course the only violence there came from the government side in the end.

As enthusiastic as I am to see the revolt against Maduro I fear the “revolting” people want more socialismo and will support the next guy that promises free stuff.
For now the people are coming out in the streets and Henrique Capriles of the opposition has called on everyone to come out again today.
The government claims of violence coming from the opposition are going to be used as a pretext to arrest Mr. Capriles.
Other opposition leaders were arrested and jailed after previous protests.
The USA and 11 OAS countries are watching the situation and they oppose Maduro’s crackdown.
Where that leads I don’t know......
The Corporatist and Globalist elites don’t like pure Communism ala Venezuela.
Their socialist-capitalist partnership is much more multinational corporation friendly.
I think a majority of people in Venezuela now realize that socialism only works by seizing money from the productive to give to the unproductive.
The civil war in Venezuela will be between those who work versus those who don’t.
Maduro just today seized the GM plant in VZ. GM announced that it is ceasing operations immediately. That’ll help the economy...Communism is based on total unreality.
Don’t worry, the riots will end as soon as the people starve to death.
This is what’s called the Happy Comrade Dance, coming soon to a dictatorship near you.
These marches may have worked earlier on, but they’re nothing more than an opportunity for the government to monitor the opposition and compile a list of targets.
As I understand the situation, Chavez succeeded by giving certain thuggish cretins power and wealth (comparatively speaking.) They are ward healers with muscle to back them up. And, they are the lowest row of the political pyramid.
That’s where the opposition has to focus its attentions, if you get my drift.
Bush could’ve stopped Hugo back in’02 but you had Jimmy certify that it was a fair election. A two year old could see this coming.
