Most hardcore fans would have been happy if they kept just Zahn’s books.
But they didn’t and threw it all out so they could make lame PC books that suck.
I hated how dozens of articles were written over “Ciana Ree” and the wonders of diversity, never mind the stories were garbage and she’s a Mary-Sue.
Right now he’s just kicking around against the early Rebellion in SW Rebels, which for a kids show is actually pretty solid.
They didn’t throw it out, they cut it into a separate line, available to be brought back. And of course she’s a Mary Sue, SW was literally BUILT on director/ audience stand-in. Luke is the ULTIMATE Marty Stu character, he even bears the director’s name (Luke S, Lucas, NOT a coincidence).
Comics and novels have already invalidated the Thrawn Saga with a crappier plotline.
Unless Disney gets desperate to keep fans and starts retconning stuff back into canon.
They ARE putting things back in canon. Not out of desperation but knowing how to work a prolonged story. First you take the tens of thousands of pages OUT so you don’t have drag that albatross around then you say: OK that parts awesome, put it back; and that part; and that one; no not that one. That’s one of the things they’re using SW Rebels for, it’s the big “put it back in canon” engine.
LOL. You’re right, they pretty much recycled the plot from the original Star Wars movie.
So we will see if they keep it up. In the next one we will see if Luke trains Rey in the Force, just as Yoda trained Luke.

I am interested in what happens to Leia too. I heard that they had filmed all of Carrie Fisher’s scenes for the next movie before her untimely death. We will see if they have the Leia character is written out or actually dies in the movie.
Blech - not impressed with JJ Wars. This trailer doesn’t inspire me at all that he’s learned anything.
*Yawn* Probably just full of more plot holes and cheesy dialog.
Her brother said that supposedly they are going to CGI her into the last movie. Not sure if that’s been confirmed, though.

I can feel the merchandising in my intestines already.
I really don’t get the adulation for that trilogy. While some of the stuff with Thrawn himself was good, the rest of it (a heart-of-gold-smuggler, a conveniently-secret fleet of ships and “Luuke” clones) was painfully mediocre.
They could save the Star Wars franchise for me by taking the girl from Rogue one and replacing the current Force awakens star. When I think about it all the new Force awakens Stars were weak. After that, bring back Han Solo, Luke sure as heck should have been there to catch him when he fell.
Because it was great for the time period when the franchise was seriously sputtering out and revived a lot of interest in things.
The whole mole hunt thing was typical thriller novel stuff from the time but remember what was there before it.
Judging from the editing and that stupid looking light saber it will be another borefest.
Another I am a fan of Star Wars directer who then changes everything about Star Wars.
