Sean Spicer has spent the past two days apologizing for saying that Adolf Hitler didnt use chemical weapons.
Unfortunately for MSNBCs Chris Matthews, that led to people remembering hed said said the exact same thing back in 2013.
In an August 27, 2013 appearance on MSNBCs Morning Joe, Matthews seemed displeased with Obamas red-line policy in Syria and offhandedly mentioned that Hitler didnt use chemical weapons.
We didnt use [chemical weapons] in World War II, Hitler didnt use them, Matthews said at the time. But we dont use chemical weapons. Thats no deal.
Matthews then pondered what could stop a country like Syria from using nuclear weapons if mutually assured destruction wasnt enough of a deterrent.
If that doesnt work, what does work? he questioned.
To Matthews credit, he defended Sean Spicer after his Tuesday gaffe, explaining that the White House press secretary clearly was talking about the fact that Hitler didnt resort to [chemical weapons] in the battlefield.

They really thought they got him (and Trump by proxy) in the ultimate gotcha.
Such unmitigated BS.
Liberals really make this world a very miserable place.
Keep in mind that "journalists" are NOT very bright to begin with, add in the [totally unwarranted] arrogance and the fact that Chrissy thinks he knows it all, and you get a blithering idiot that cannot be educated no matter what.
People who think clearly need not apply.
Mathews has held to truth on this, and on problems with Muslim violence/doctrine.
He deserves some credit for it.
There is no less important degree than one on “Journalism”. IMHO!
I think ultimately it’s another interesting example of how liberals argue and make their points with their “hearts” and not their brains. They’re also knee-jerkers.. they jump to conclusions too quickly and don’t let conservatives make their point... chalk it up to an inability to listen...... maybe this is what qualifies someone to be a liberal?? Bad communication skills...
Tripping over your words because you’re talking too quickly or don;t have what you want to say formulated in your mind before you say it, is also a bad communication skill, but it’s not in direct contrast to your intent and your meaning.
Spencer tried to clarify his comments right the the press room because he knows... Matthews is a right old chump, but I don’t think he’s a holocaust denier... I understand what he’s saying there... “on the battlefield”.
(btw, a liberal having a “heart” is an oxymoron on its own, but I digress...)
Recall the Ben Carson “slaves were immigrants” dust up from a few weeks back.. Carson says what he says... liberals flip out, blow gaskets, lose their minds... arguments ensue.
Then the next day we get a video of Barry saying the same thing!!!!
And where did all THAT outrage go...?
Down, down, down into the Memory Hole of Long-Forgotten Nonsense.
The NY Times wrote the same thing on 9/6/13.
Tucker Carlson covered Matthews’ statement (played the recording), and the “Times” article, in his show last night on his show. It’s about 12 minutes into the show.
Liberals are using the “Well Chris Mathews isn’t the Press Secretary for the United States so it doesn’t matter what he thinks” argument, but I’m not sure how they’d be able to dismiss that Op Ed from the omniscient NYT.
It’s always a different set of standards for liberals....
Liberals get a pass because the press is corrupt.
Yes, that is true. Liberals have different criteria to judge people and situations. Liberals are forgiving of other liberals. Whereas liberals are ready to crucify any conservative or Republican who says something inartfully.
I bet he has a tinkle down his leg right now.
Chris Matthews didn’t know that Hitler gassed Jews? Why hasn’t Matthews been fired for telling such a lie?
Education and journalism are the last resorts of slacking college students.
