Malloy won’t run for re-election as governor [of CT]
Connecticut Post ^ | 7:40 pm, Thursday, April 13, 2017 | Ken Dixon

In a roomful of supporters and agency heads, tears broke the governor’s businesslike façade.

Dannel P. Malloy said his rejection of a third term, a decision he announced Thursday afternoon, frees him from partisan politics so he can better steer the sharply divided General Assembly through its current budget crisis.

In January 2019, Malloy will begin the next act of a life that began as a dyslectic child in Stamford, led to law school, a stint as a criminal prosecutor, mayor of his hometown and nearly seven years in the Governor’s Residence. […]

With low popularity ratings, a $1.7 billion budget deficit and recent GOP gains in the Legislature, it was less likely that Malloy, the first Democratic governor since 1991, could hold on for another four years. …

Their is another thread running about how unpopular Chris Christie is via a pole. Let me tell you it is bogus, Malloy is reviled even more especially amongst the RTKABA crowd. I know two CT residence who can’t wait to get vested, retire, and go so with their firearms...

Malloy is a nutjob. Even some sane people (all 3 of them) know that he’s a leftist loser. Connecticut will be a little safer when he’s gone (to the booby hatch).

P malloy.

Careful of what we wish for.....a Kennedy is waiting in the wings.

Camelot anyone? Nickel tax on plastic shopping bags? Mandatory organ donation? “End The R-Word” campaign. Tolls.
You name it, he wants it. Wants *you* to pay for it.

Malloy has been a total disaster.

But for those who accessorize with the acceptable politics—that is, the Jareds and Ivankas of NYC North who voted him in—the disconnect with how bad he has been for the state knows no bounds.

Democrat voters know no shame.

That state is ripe for a Scott Walker type to yank it from the Democrat column. Is one out there?

"...it was less likely that Malloy....could hold on for another four years."

He's not running because he knows he wouldn't win - everybody hates him - even a lot of the Demoncrats. He was asked (told) to not run.

I get the feeling there are very few CT FReepers left who come here. Although malloy is reviled in general the democrats have a stranglehold on the state with the unions in their pockets.

I don't know what will happen. I am sure Ol' one-foot will run. He'll get the sympathy/kennedy adoration vote on top of the union vote. Unless the state legislature takes a 180 there really is nothing to stop the march of local state socialism in CT.

It is a Walker, David Walker, former U.S. CompTroller. I was back in CT this past weekend and got to see his pre-announcement on Wfsb TV. He is the real deal and CT's only hope...
