49ers players surprised Colin Kaepernick unemployed

NaVorro Bowman is confident “someone” will sign former 49ers teammate Colin Kaepernick.

Kaepernick has been a free agent since March 3 without being publicly connected to any potential suitor.

Should Kaepernick be on a roster, even if it’s not the 49ers’ as coach Kyle Shanahan forges ahead with free agent acquisitions Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley?

“I think he should,” Bowman replied Monday at the start of the 49ers’ offseason program. “He’s proven he can play at this level. You know, he’s made a choice that’s kind of had a little backlash from it.

Running back Carlos Hyde also expressed disbelief that Kaepernick remains unemployed.

“Yeah, I am surprised. I’ve seen some quarterbacks got signed that Kap is way better than, in my opinion,” Hyde said.

Kaepernick has remained out of the league while a slew of other quarterbacks have found new homes beside Hoyer and Barkley. Those include Chase Daniel (Saints), Nick Foles (Eagles), Mike Glennon (Bears), Josh McCown (Jets), Aaron Murray (Rams), Geno Smith (Giants), Case Keenum (Vikings), Mark Sanchez (Bears), E.J. Manuel (Raiders), T.J. Yates (Bills) and Matt McGloin (Eagles).

He cost the league 15% of its viewers (myself included) and hundreds of millions in ad revenue.

Gee, why’s he out of work?...

Why isn’t he being picked up? Why? Hmm?

Let’s start a think tank thread to see if we can come up with some answers.

This is tough one.

San Fran gave him a ####ing award at the end of the season for courage or some such nonsense

Who the #### gives an award at the end of the season but doesn’t want the guy they gave the award to back?

The sad part is, this was Jed York and the media’s fault. They should be the ones punished.

It probably surprises them that escalators only go one direction.

I hope that Philip Rivers retires and the Chargers sign Krappernick. Spanos and Colon Krappernick deserve each other.

To state the obvious, it’s because his job is to attract an audience not to throw a football. Throwing the football is a means not an end.

If he had pulled that political stunt on my time, I’d have fired him within 24 hours.

Are you telling me they haven't already? What's the problem over there? Somebody not paying attention. The owners are all old white men. Of COURSE they're a bunch of racists.

49ers players surprised Colin Kaepernick unemployed

Nobody should be surprised that this pain in the ass is unemployed because he’s a pain in the ass.

When he runs out of the millions he’s already made, he can discover how to flip greasy burgers while disrespecting the sensibilities of the customers. See how long that gig lasts.

Not going to read the article but were any 49ers receivers surprised? If they wanted to keep an ineffective QB they could have flipped a coin between him and Christian Ponder. Ponder is a lot less trouble and his wife would improve the shots of the stadium crowd.

The only high point of the Bears season last year was their knocking him out of the game. He was so crappy the 49ers pulled him.
