800 mph....The high speed isn’t the worry so much as the stopping part.

For people? Yeah, that's a problem.
For transporting goods, particularly ones that can stand up to high G forces? The rail industry is going to put a horse's head in Musk's bed for this one.

so after 10 (or is it 15) years the California high-speed rail is still a pipe-dream and Elon Musk has working models within a year.

They can hire the pretty women who work drive through windows at banks as conductors. They’re already trained at taking money and pneumatic tube operators.

As they say, its not the long drop but the quick stop that puts the dimple in the cow poop.

There are serious limitations looking at the proposed map.

I think the car is in a tube like those ancient department store pneumatic systems. Evacuate the air in front so that there is no resistance and they are off to the races.

Will they have female hyperloop attendants?
My spellchecker didn’t recognize “hyperloop.”

You do realize that velocity and acceleration are two entirely different things, right? The acceleration to “cruising” speed and back down to zero at the terminus would be well under 1G.

Hyperloop Test tunnel 500m = 1,640ft
Speed of sound approx 1,125 ft/sec
Rocket Sled test track at Edwards AFB, 20,000 ft.
Wonder how they’re going to get it up to speed ian such a short distance.
