What is pathetic is attacking a country who has not threatened us in any way. If ISIS was targeted, fine. But not Assad, who has been fighting ISIS.

I totally agree with you. I was referring to you trying to get another posters post removed. Forget it. I was just being emotional myself.

Hey bud, have you not been paying attention? The Neo-cons have been pushing for a war with Russia since 2014. They’re convinced that they can win a war against a MAD tier power.

Obama dropped 12,192 bombs on Syria in 2016.

I wonder how many civilians died due to "collateral damage"from all of those airstrikes.

I don’t differentiate Assad and ISIS.

So even though Assad is fighting against ISIS, and tolerates multiple religions, you think they are the same. Sounds like you can't differentiate very well.

obama set the line where he would retaliate... he did nothing when that line was crossed. What message did that send to assad? The whole world believed this great country had turned into wimps. We have been the strong country that kept a sort of peace.. they all knew we’d intervene if had to. We did not take land or oil from the countries we defended or overtook for a time (Japan, for example). Our goal has not been to keep the spoils of war... our goal has been to just keep peace as much as is possible. But there are limits to what we will tolerate...

Yes, there are violations every day in those countries.. and we do not intervene if it’s possible to let them do their own fighting. If it comes to our shores, we want those enemy governments to know, we will defend.

But, put everything else aside, there are so-called rules in our world.. one is atomic bombs.. nuclear attacks.. and biological attacks on innocent people... or on anyone. Just do NOT use saran gas or anything in that category. We will take you out if you do these things... for it would be annihilation for all of us. We should not wait till they hit us... the fact a crazy man would use it on sleeping innocent people.. innocent babies... and then have a good day the next... is beyond imagination.

That is the line and assad crossed it.. because he thought he could... obama the chicken.... set that line and never aimed to do anything more. If there is trouble after we attacked that base... we will answer it... we don’t look for trouble, but we don’t run either. They probably will test Trump again... to see if he can withstand it... but he’s been under attack since day one.. attacks no other President ever had to take on every day.. he’s no shrinker and if they test him again, they will see the same determined man. He has the Pentagon and the military... plus many other heads.. they will work it out. Just don’t be weak.. it leads to real problems.

We can’t be naive to think there will be no more wars in our lives... no more trouble with bad guys who have no sense. That is why we need a strong military, weapons, and good leadership. It was a bad 8 years with obama... very bad for all of us and the world!

No Code. I was explaining the mechanism advanced for the many actions our Presidents have taken action.

Their is a constitutional demand for a declaration of war but, we aren’t going to war in Syria, according to everyone else.

They are calling it punitive and limited.

I still disagree with anything we do in Syria and don’t understand why the EU, NATO, UN couldn’t have done something about Asaad, if this were so freakin important.

It’s in their backyard and should be more of a threat to them than it is to us.

Further, Turkey is a NATO member, in name only.

Why couldn’t those Muslim hacks have done something about a country directly on their border?

Trump will probably do a few more things I disagree with over the next 8 years but, so long as we get 3 more at bats, in the bottom of the last inning and clears the federal bench and circuit courts with similar strict constitutionalists, then I will forgive him for just about anything he does...

“The Syrian civil war is not our business”

the line was set by obama... do not cross this line.. and then he did nothing when he knew they had these weapons. That sent a message to a crazy man that he could do whatever he wanted to and the only country that would stop him, had turned into wimps... that must have been good news to assad.

Their civil war is not our business... I’d agree with that.. but there are things in our world that are totally off limits for anyone in any country... nuclear attacks and biological warfare... it’s understood “don’t go there”. WE are the country that leads... we are strong (used to be) and the peace of the world falls on us to some extent... and it falls on us when a crazy man rains down saran gas on sleeping children.. babies... and their deaths are lengthy and horrible. We have a conscience in our country.. we have limits... and assad crossed it.

Thank goodness we have a man who is strong and not afraid to stand for that line in the sand. Strength is a deterrent.. .and weakness brings out the sharks in these countries.

Whatever happens... it had to be done after assad used saran gas... and he used saran gas because he thought he could... obama’s weakness was not a virtue... running from the boogie man won’t work.. never does. Turn around and face him... !

How do we know that Assad used poison gas? I am skeptical as to whether or not this is a false flag, not unlike the WMDs that Sadaam Hussein supposedly had or the alleged atrocities that Qadaffi supposedly committed. Even if Assad used poison gas, Syria is no threat to the U.S. or NATO. Assad is not a supporter of Islamic terrorism and tolerates Christians. His opponents are the opposite. Remember that while he is no democrat, he is the modern equivalent of Franco or Pinochet, authoritarian but useful as allies against Communism. Our modern opponent is radical Islam.

There is no question that this whole business got completely out of hand (or started even) under the last administration and, perhaps, would become very dangerous later.

I realize that we have not seen the last of war and still trust Trump to serve well.

Still there is no current Congressional authorization for such actions. That is an extension of the Obama unconstitutional involvements for years.

As to the innocent civilians concern, how does that even compare to a fire-bombing of a big city or nuclear attacks on Japan? Both of these I would have supported.

From what I can see, the first order of business for our foreign policy in the Middle East is to get rid of ISIS and it is hard to see how this helps achieve this.

No matter what is going on in the world... and yes, isis needs to be eliminated... but no matter what, where or when the news might be ... when saran gas is used on a sleeping town and little children/babies have to suffer that kind of death... sending some retaliation to that air base was a good signal to those who needed it... including isis. We are in the process of taking over a city in Syria from isis.... If for nothing else, last night let the world know we now have a leader and our ball-less days have ended... and just maybe the fact Trump did this.. with russia being on assad’s side.. just might shut up the gossip and attacks coming from the left on collusion. Trump is drawing positives from countries over there... they needed to know who our President is.. for they are getting a lousy description of him in our media.

China news/media were leery for their President to meet with Trump... he just might embarrass their President... and where did they get that idea? yea.. the media here! With that impression of Trump coming from China ... that attack last night must have sent a different message to them.. and even here. It was needed!! That is IMHO... and you are certainly welcome to yours.

As for running it through congress, if he had done that, it would have taken forever and the dems would have stopped it... and the whole world would have known about the attack and probably stopped it. Trump is not in the same position other Presidents have been in... NEVER has a President had to take the attacks and obstruction they’ve done to Trump. Congress would never have approved it.. even if it had saved our country.. they would have said no. They are not risk takers and they do not have a positive bone in their bodies.. they will do anything to stop Trump.. to make him look bad... to get him out of the oval office. He can’t take anything to congress and get any agreement in anything! The old guard is really old and useless today!

I just have terminal distrust of anything the media reports.

However, there has to be a limit to our involvement for humanitarian reasons. There are hundreds of atrocities occurring across the world, and we can’t be involved in righting all wrongs. We have killed more children in Iraq and Afghanistan from Incidental Casualties than occurred in this strike in any case.

Sometimes it comes down to what kind of person each of us are.. as to what we think Trump should have done. Pacifists want to leave everything alone.. don’t stir up a mess. Middle of the roaders want some things done and some things not.. just don’t involve ‘me’.. Fighters want everything fixed.. somehow get the bad guy out and protect the innocent... make it a fair fight.

I am a fighter.. and going through 8 years of obama was hard... watching any biased news is impossible.. and I am thankful for a President who is not afraid to go the extra mile and is in a hurry. Trump is a fighter.. and it’s about time we had someone who took the reins. The world is in a mess when the only country that keeps a half way peace, is out of commission. We are the peace makers, whether it works or not... we are the closest to it.. and obama nearly tore the world up being a pacifist and a muslim and every word he ever spoke was a political lie.

I do remember the ramifications of WWII and if society had been then, what it is today, we would have lost that war! Men went ashore off ships/boats and the Germans were on the hill gunning them down... only some made it.. my father was one who went ashore at Normandy and he said “you pick up their rifle and back pack (if you can carry it) and keep on running inland”. It was hell... if cameras had filmed it for TV and it had been on TV that night.. the snowflakes would have shut it down for sure.

We have to realize how many lives were lost.. blood spilled.. for the freedoms we have today.. and many are not worthy of it ... if I had lost my son, husband, father or brother in that war! That freedom came at a high price... that flag is not to touch the floor.. and they are stomping on it and setting fire to it.. I’d like to put them on a slow boat to China.
