"Yeah, it’s probably just part of Soddom Hussein’s chemical weapon stockpile that Bush lied about."

Personally, I seriously doubt it. Quack Daffy turned over his chemical weapons, including Sarin, to the US and then allowed inspectors roam around his country to be sure there were no more. The NATO folks roaming around Libya organized and funded the fragmented groups of rebels into a coordinated force, the same rebels who later NATO supported with massive bombing. The MB core group within those rebels were and are the rabid animals who created ISIS.

Having an ambassador who knew too much slain in Benghazi wasn't over that ambassador knowing that money, small arms, anti-tank missiles, and MANPADs going to ISIS via their connection to the Muslim Brotherhood. It was about something much bigger, chemical weapons that the US had control of within Libya and had never removed then neutralized.

The US has been playing paddy cake with the MB ever since Nasser and have no intention of halting that little game. The MB has long wanted control of Syria and have the Assad family murdered because it was the current Syrian leaders father who first let the MB in when Nasser threw out every one of them he didn't have executed, then totally destroyed their little army along with most of their leadership MB chose to ignore him and tried to take control of the Golan from the Syrian government. That was the MB plan for being able to start a war with Israel any time they chose no matter what the Syrian government said.

as they say in the "X Files", the truth is out there and the truth is that Assad isn't stupid enough to use gas on his enemies military or civilian.

This is clear thinking.

Chlorine makes a lot of sense, more sense than Sarin although I wouldn't rule anything out at this point.

I also wouldn't rule out Trump being Trump and reacting the way he did as a bargaining chip. After all, he wants safe zones which is in effect limited partition.

If by making a safe zone large enough so that along with a Kurdish safe area it's big enough for a trans-Syria pipeline, he'd get a lot of heat off his back from one faction that is after his scalp. If in return the US gets a fat slice of the money from any oil that comes out of Iraq to the Syrian coast through a new pipeline, that's a deal I think he'd make.

Good point, though I read somewhere that Russia already has a deal with the Turks.

Russia wouldn't care. In fact, they might like having an alternative route via a connection to the Kurdish section of a new route to the Med to hold over the head of the idiot in Turkey. They know that sooner or later they're going to be one among several supplying Europe which is why they've made huge deals with China (less than China wanted but a lot) and are being very nice to the Japanese.

Russia and Japan have a very long history. The Russians know how to dicker a little at a time in order to end up with a good deal with the Japanese. Look at the islands in question between Japan and Russia. The ones the Japanese are demanding weren't theirs until after the 1905 war. Before that the 1855 line dividing those islands between the two countries didn't create any friction. Eventually, I suspect the Japanese will agree to gradually return to the 1855 division of the islands along with a joint Japanese/Russian defense arrangement on at least one of the larger two islands.

Sounds way out at the moment, but Russians manning the air defenses is a nice check on the Chinese if you think about it. Japan controlling everything else and having making sure the Russians have transit rights without concern for national waters around the islands in the area would suit both sides just fine.

Given the Japanese way of negotiating, though, I'd be surprised if it happened any time soon although China not reigning in the Norks makes it a lot more attractive and therefore a lot more likely.

Once that's all settled, and probably before, the Japanese will be negotiating for a NG pipeline from Russia to Japan. You can count on that because no matter what the US says, an interruption in their NG supply is a major crisis for them. Right now, they're at the mercy of others who have plenty of options. If they become a big customer of the Russians, they would be in much better shape.

Russia is going where the Middle Eastern suppliers are at a disadvantage now and they don't see Europe as a growth market anyway. They see Europe as their way to fund becoming the main supplier in Asia.

If assad has “ nuclear weapons” they are in Iran as a shared research program
Somehow I doubt the opthamalogist is part of the nuke club but doesn’t need his own nukes if he has powerful allies that do

“Hussein’s chemical weapon stockpile”

Exactly that!
This is a cognitive dissonant dystopian hell! These ‘stockpiles’ are not supposed to exist! Syria and Iraq keep shipping these stockpiles across each others borders while the UN demands more ‘proof’. Playing this stupid shell game. WMD... WMD??? Who says I got WMD?? It’s Bug Spray!! PROVE IT! The UN Spends 8 or 10 Months debating whether they should search for WMD’s. By the time they get around to having a ‘investigative committee’ they go in and look at these empty buildings that have been scrubbed clean. Declare the client state to be clean! Deny any talk of satellite images of trucks full of barrels running across the borders as loose conspiracy talk.

Try to explain it to a typical stupid voter. It’s all brushed away as ‘bush lied’. They lose interest within 2.5 seconds. You get better conversation trying to figure out what dinner plate kim kardassian has mounted on her butt today.

It’s pretty discouraging, but sometimes it’s better to be at peace than to be right.

Yes, Asia for growth, but there is a lot of long term capital in the supply chain for Europe.I’m very glad about having Tillerson in the chair. He’s the right man for the job. It’s starting to look like fusion could be a practical source in the not too distant future. The next few decades shall be critical for humanity.

From the beginning and still - I do not believe Assad was part of this. So, the following question is not based on who, but what: What would cause the bubbling of the skin that they are showing on that one child?

If putin’s RT, a totally putin owned propaganda organ, says it. It’s true. Blame America. Blame the Jews. Blame Soros. Never blame putin and assad.

I’d only add that President Trump should be pulling us out of Syria rather than getting us further involved. This is a medieval multi-sided free-for-all and nobody’s hands are clean in this kind of fight for dominance.

June 2014 report: Several new natural gas liquefaction plants in the U.S. are under construction or in the permitting process, with six targeting 2015 to 2019 to begin exporting LNG. Three of the six hope to ship gas to Japan. The Houston Chronicle’s Fuel Fix recently reported on the six U.S. LNG export plants that are being prepared for LNG export operations, representing a combined output of nearly 10 billion cubic feet per day:

It is not that simple. For one thing, the bulk of Japan’s present gas (actually LNG) suppliers are reasonably reliable, with Australia way out in front, followed by Malaysia, Qatar, Russia(9%), and Indonesia, in that order, with host of smaller suppliers. The supply is well diversified, with Japan also working with US companies, in anticipation of significant exports from the US. Qatar can also be expected to expand supply, with Malaysia and Indonesia becoming more constrained.

Further, Japan has little gas pipeline infrastructure, so, someone would have to build not only a major pipeline to Japan, but then a heck of a lot of infrastructure in Japan... all while Japanese use has not only levelled off, it is falling, with coal as a very viable alternative due to excellent “clean” technology. Some nuclear capacity is also returning.

https://www.eia.gov/beta/international/analysis.cfm?iso=JPN

I could possibly see Russia supplying 15 % of Japan’s gas, 10 years from now. But not more.

What it boils down to for Russia is that energy is an international market, and for the foreseeable future, prices are likely to stay moderately low: That is a huge problem for Russia.

RT is saying there was a weapons depot, but is not saying when the existence of chemicals there was discovered. It could be a case of a depot being hit, and then “uh-oh...”

Really, right now, everything is speculation, until some unbiased investigators can dig into this.

Where unbiased investigators can be found is beyond me...
