Governor Jerry Brown Hopes to Fast Track Gas Tax (vote sought by Thursday)

SACRAMENTO -- Governor Jerry Brown made a rare appearance before two legislative committees Monday in hopes of fast tracking a major roadway repair bill funded by an increase in the gas tax by 12 cents a gallon.

It was a proposal that stalled late last year. But this year Democrats hold a two-thirds majority in both houses of the legislature, meaning a tax increase could be passed without Republican votes.

“The roads are broken, and they’re getting worse, and they’re not going to get better unless you get a significant injection of money," Brown told members of the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Because the cost of living isn’t high enough in CA already.

I read that about half the money would go to local public transportation. So much for road repair. It’s all smoke and mirrors and pure bull$h!t.

Put 16 gallons in your tank, Jerry Brown reaches into your wallet and peels off 2 bucks for the starving CA public sector millionaire "working stiffs". 😀

Is this not an explicit, tacit admission democrats have permitted the road system in CA to get to the stage of “broken”?

I’m sorry, there i go with facts again. Liberal socialists hage facts.

I told a friend in California that she and her family should just leave. I got the “But my husbands’ job is here!” line like there aren’t jobs as good other places.

I realize there are still good people there but it is time to leave California. Shake the dust off your feet as you cross the state line and don’t look back. You’ll turn into a pillar of salt. If you aren’t a missionary there is no reason to stay.

Herr furor Brown, demands more tributes from the peasants. Anyone who does not agree will be arrested and put into his prison system.

In the 70's Calif. had remarkable state highways, compared to the New England, NY, Penn. roads that I was used to.

I chalked it up to very few freeze-thaw cycles per year and good engineering.

Libtards have apparently developed technology to screw roads up too.

Instead, stop throwing money at illegals and put you bullet train to nowhere on hiatus for a few years and you’ll be swimming in money.

Proper asset allocation is economics 101.

And how many bills and ballot measures have been passed to fund road improvements, only to have that money redirected to some other leftist pet project?

Jerry Brown, you are garbage.

Using allotted road funds for everything but roads.
And we should believe things will be different this time,
why?

My wife got laid off yesterday and we’re seriously talking about moving to another state. Just haven’t decided on which one yet. We have about $250-$300K in equity on the house, so likely we’d be able to get a nice place elsewhere and have a small mortgage or maybe even pay cash.

California has lost its shine.

In the mid-80s, I drove Highway 1 all the way from the south to the Oregon border. Fantastic road...great shape. I still think that 75-percent of California’s roads better than the vast majority in Penn, NY, and NJ.

Why are they broken? Because the State hasn’t bothered to maintain them? Where did all the money go that was already set aside to pay them? Are you maybe wasting the money on something else, like a high-speed train to nowhere?

Gas is at a low price/gallon now. Democrats will take advantage when the sacrifice is low. They will have their pound of flesh when the price is high.

Hey, Moonbeam, without roads, no one can reach the stations for your little choo choo... Did you just remember that?

Billions and billions wasted, so now everyone gets to pony up more so they can waste even more billions.
