WASHINGTON Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly told the Senate on Wednesday morning that he doesn't expect construction of a wall the full length of the U.S.-Mexico border marking the abandonment of a central campaign promise by President Donald Trump.
"It's unlikely that we will build wall or a physical barrier from sea to shining sea," Kelly testified to the Senate Homeland Security Committee. "We're not going to build a wall where it doesn't make sense. But we'll do something across the Southwest border."
That's a direct contradiction of Trump's vow of a "big, beautiful wall" the full 2,200-mile length of the Southwest border. Trump has not personally indicated a willingness to abandon that promise, a cornerstone of his appeal to voters.

Lying media, Trump has always said the same thing.
As long as the fence/barrier/wall gets built where the most crossings happen, that’s what counts.
DACA must be ended as well. Over 11,000 illegal aliens have been given work permits since Trump took office.
If only for nature’s sake, it would need to be an E-wall for much if not all of its extent. This is silly parsing.
President Trump has always said where there are physical barriers he wouldn’t be ‘building a wall’....media B.S. again...day after day, month after month, year after year...
Someday the media is finally going to wake up and find out that the millions of American Voters that support President Trump do not believe their garbage...fish wrap and bird cage liner...
Give me a break.
Yep and quite frankly, as long as Trump gives ICE the same authority they have now for all 8 years, we may not even need an inch of wall. However, to protect from future administrations especially Democratic, we do need a barrier along the 2200 miles. I’d like a physical wall even if it really is just a symbol to Mexicans that they are not welcome unless they go through the process of immigration.
If you like your plan you will be able to keep your plan. If you like your doctor you will be able to keep your doctor. Period.
If you like your “wall” ....
Where do you want to be broken?

I extrapolated the total from the number given in this article. 140 new applications and 690 renewals each day are still being processed as if DACA were law and not something dreamed up by Obama. I has no basis in law and is in fact illegal. Even if Trump does it.
It has no basis in law.
We need to deport the 10s of millions of illegals here currently.
An “e-wall”? Talk about silly parsing!
We need to cut off employment and benefits and many will leave on their own once we make it clear we intend for them all to go home, one way or another. We should also publicize the fact that voluntarily returning home will not result in a 10 year restriction from applying for legal entry like a deportation will.
Allowing DACA to continue undermines the appearance of our resolve.
Haven't been to the Gulf of Mexico near Brownsville (Port Isabel) in ages.
Is it shiny, now?
