First his artillery and mrls unload on the DMz and extending into Seoul
Then his commandos hit in the rear, as several million panicked civilians flee south , confusing the battle zone as his fanatically dedicated forces head south
Meanwhile there is a strategic launch out toward Japan which hits nothing vital but nonetheless raises the question
Do you hit back based on his effect ( minimal target damage if any) or his intent ( which may be unknown and hotly debated ...)

I just spent several days in Seoul...a bustling city of 26 million. To give you an example of how advanced it is...there 291 subway stops and 32 river bridges. It is incredibly clean...cleaner than any US city we’re seen. Everyone was nice and helpful. We never felt threatened or uncomfortable. They have great WiFi connectivity. As long as the mentally ill north Koreans don’t mass murder them, they’ll do fine.

One problem with that scenario: fuel. From what I’ve been reading the North Koreans either could not mount a mechanized invasion or, if they could, sustain one. So what you have is the combination of a nuclear strike & a commando/guerrilla war. Decisive? Probably not, since the US would drop a tactical nuke on Pyonyang while the SK Army ruthlessly wipes out the Nork leg infantry.

They are a “tripwire”. The norks given their resources are good for a Sunday punch attack, about 36 hours or so imho. After that they stall out.
Tridents can come from half a world away.
No ICBM fields in MO left. Just B2s and their WSAs at Whiteman AFB.
We don't have Vanguards. Those are problematic British ships. All are in port at Glasgow, one is unarmed for life extension.
We don't have 18 OH SSBNs on patrol. We have fourteen. The remainder are SSGNs. Two of which are undergoing life extension, another being rearmed with new missiles. We have, at best, three or four SSBNs on patrol.
Unfortunately, the first NK fire mission from their 122mm, 155mm, 203mm guns and BM21 MLRS brigades will kill 100k+ Seoul residents in the first few minutes. They have massive amount of artillery.
I think you wouldn’t recognize the place today.
So the PLA is planning it’s own landing at Inchon??
I was there '89-'91, I have several photos of it. No one ever said boo about taking photos of them, and I have several. They were well known by then, I guess. 6903d Electronic Security Group "Skivvy 9". We called 'em TR-1s when I was there, though. Not sure the logic behind the name change. I know they changed it back to U-2 after I left the service.
I had a chance to ride in a chase car when I was there. They were converting from the early 70s big-block El Caminos to the new Mustangs at the time. The day I was supposed to get my ride was fogged in, so it was a no-go. Never got another shot at it.
NK launching a nuke, hitting a target and detonating are all big IF’s. It would almost take a miracle. Getting it off the launch pad is a big if and if it doesn’t work, you are in a world of hurt.
I’m surprised the Norks haven’t accidentally nuked themselves.
The artillery will also kill thousands of Chinese including the children of China’s leaders who attend school there.
Counter battery fire and air strikes will destroy 50% of the North’s pieces in about two hours. Static artillery is an invitation to die.
I remember reading some article which said that China has a contingency plan to land on Hwanghae Province (south of Pyongyang) presumably to cut off ROK-U.S. advance.
Osan? LOL! What about the “trip-wire” division at Camp Casey, and those on the DMZ?
