The terrorist war in Yemen and Iranian expansion there has very little to do with whether the US maintains free transit.
Sure, the Iranians and maybe even some Americans will be concerned with appearances.
But, no matter where you place Iranians or their weapons they will have no impact on the free movement and exercise of US arms.

The industrial mineral deposits found in the country include zeolite, talc, scoria, sandstone, perlite, magnesite, limestone, gypsum, feldspar, dolomite, clays and celestine. The country also has rich reserves of fossil fuels that include natural gas and crude oil.
I had a hard time believing there is anything in Yemen worth a dirty penny.
