President Donald Trump granted the U.S. military more flexibility in conducting operations in Somalia on Wednesday, declaring the country a "war zone" and easing restrictions that protect civilians.
Parts of Somalia have been declared areas of "active hostilities" under a directive Trump signed Wednesday, the New York Times reported. The directive would mean rules that require interagency approval of air strikes no longer apply in those targeted areas, and targets would no longer have to pose a direct threat to American lives. These rules, put in place under President Barack Obama in 2013, also required that strikes would have a very small chance of killing innocent civilians, the Times said. Without these rules, the military now has greater leeway to strike the Al-Shabaab militant group, which is affiliated with al-Qaeda, and has attacked a Kenyan military base and the Ugandan capital of Kampala.

Somalia is not worth one drop of American blood, one dollar of American treasure, acceptance of one war “refugee”, or acceptance of a single welfare-bound immigrant!

Be interesting to see what happens in Mogadishu on the Mississippi (AKA Minneapolis), if things get hot in Somolia, since the population of Somali’s here is larger than the number in SOmolia!!!!!!
This may be derided as an entirely liberal and utopian idea; instead of intervening in internecine wars in Africa, IMO some sort of refugee centers ought to be set up with the great and wonderful UN. But not desolate camps. They need to be larval towns designed for reasonable self-sufficiency. We could have planeloads of bright eyed college students go and serve. They can be overseen by the UN, if necessary. And any occupants who starts something gets their freaking brains blown out, they can fertilize the gardens.

We need to get out and stay out of that hellhole. They got nothing we need or should want to save. We already made the mistake of bringing in loads of their ‘refugees’ to sponge off our citizens.
If we’re going to go to war in Somalia, the troops need to practice in Minnesota where so many Somalis are. /s

Yes, very disappointing. I had hopes he would not be so eager to get us involved in every conflict in the galaxy.
Of course, Clinton would have been no better on this point and probably far worse. And she would have been worse overall on other points. So he’s still the better choice ... Trumbushobama is a better name for him.
I’m sorry for your (and our) loss. Their mission has impacted me profoundly and I think of them as I do those lost in Extortion 17 (SEALs).
Sadly the wars will not end. We are still like the Romans, having no idea where we are going, until the day our nation walks off the cliff.
