The tactics (and predatory laws)that police officers use to make ‘lawful’ dui arrests is very disturbing.

Consider this: only ONE cop was awarded AWARDED! for making 483 dui arrests in a smaller city here (Rancho Cucamonga). This guy has bragged about making 15 arrests on one Saturday night.

Here in California, if you are within the 3 year probation period of your first DUI, you will get arrested and charged with a second DUI if you are totally sober and there is an intoxicated person in the vehicle ie. you are the ‘designated sober driver’. I personally know a gal that had that happen. She fought it and lost. Paid $10k in lawyer fees.

Its a racket out here.

Mine was issued in 2016. You may want to keep tabs on that. I suspect that yours does not meet Federal guidelines since is it so old.

I live in CT and have the same feelings. The dems are looking to tax bags, add tolls, and double the bottle deposit to attempt to fix our budget. None of that will come close to fixing it.

I think sanctuary cities are probably unconstitutional. The confusion here is in the terrible and misleading headline.

It's just a terrible headline, not unusual these days for the media, applying the term "designated" in a vague and confusing way. California, etc. have "designated" certain of their cities as "sanctuary cities" thus allowing illegals to stay there unmolested. Thus far, a "designated" sanctuary city is one that is ALLOWED to harbor illegals.

The article itself says, The Department of Homeland Security added the entire states of California and Connecticut to its list of U.S. jurisdictions That hinder cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in detaining illegal immigrants.

The headline should read something like, "DHS Lists California and Connecticut as Sanctuary States that Hinder ICE". We wouldn't be wasting our time talking about this if they'd done it right. The media is in the business of vagueness and confusion.

They began this ‘play’ well over a year ago when these Mayors announced a ‘fake’ gathering and uniting of mayors across the country with Obama .fronting it as a group that is focused ‘together’ to assist their communities..and ya da ya da ya da.

I remember discussing it here because it looked so phony as the mayors were all demorats in larger cities where large numbers of illegal populations are. So it was obvious to me this was about voting. ....many of their organizations have nothing to do with what they say...rather just political fronts. When they stood against Trump on these Sanctuary cities that confirmed my suspicions from back then.

The Connecticut Trust Act, passed in 2013, says law enforcement can only detain an individual on a violation of federal immigration law if they have been convicted of a felony, are subject to pending criminal charges and have not posted bond, have an outstanding arrest warrant, are a known gang member, are on a terror watch list, are subject to a final order of deportation or present an unacceptable risk to public safety.

“Law enforcement should not take action that is solely to enforce federal immigration law,” Malloy and two of his commissioners wrote in the memo to police chiefs. “The federal government cannot mandate states to investigate and enforce actions that have no nexus to the enforcement of Connecticut law or local ordinances.”
