Flynn offers to testify on Russia for immunity

President Trump's former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn has reportedly told the FBI that he is willing to testify about the Trump campaign's potential ties to Russia, in exchange for immunity from prosecution, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

ADVERTISEMENT Flynn resigned in February, after it was reported that he misled White House staff on his interactions with Russia and had discussed sanctions with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak ahead of President Trump's inauguration.

The Journal reported, citing officials familiar with the matter, that the FBI and the House and Senate Intelligence committees that are investigating Russia's attempts to interfere in the U.S. election have not taken his lawyers up on the offer.

Flynn's lawyer said in a statement that “General Glynn certainly has a story to tell, and he very much wants to tell it, should the circumstances permit.”

“Notwithstanding his life of national service, the media are awash with unfounded allegations, outrageous claims of treason, and vicious innuendo directed against him. He is now the target of unsubstantiated public demands by Members of Congress and other political critics that he be criminally investigated,” Flynn’s lawyer Robert Kelner said in a statement.

“No reasonable person, who has the benefit of advice from counsel, would submit to questioning in such a highly politicized, witch hunt environment without assurances against unfair prosecution,”

Yep, this is their next smoke and mirrors story, so they can continue to ignore all things Nunes.

It doesn’t look like he’s offering to testify in exchange for immunity. I see that as a notice to Congress that he won’t testify WITHOUT it.

If it wasn’t so annoying Id actually feel bad for Liberals. Almost everyday a “news” article comes out that Trump is mere hours away from being impeached. Its almost cruel to keep on teasing them like this.

Remember that Flynn worked for the obama administration too!

Someone got very nervous when it came out he would testify if given immunity.

I wouldn’t read too much into this. Anyone called to testify under oath before a potentially hostile panel should check with their lawyer first. And any lawyer worth their salt is going to say “HELL NO!” unless some form of transactional immunity is offered. This is just normal procedure. If they refuse then that would suggest that the committee was looking to hang someone and that’s when you lawyer up and take the 5th. And no the 5th amendment was not designed to protect guilty men. It is there to protect the innocent from exactly this kind of situation.

I was once asked to testify against someone. I had attorney get immunity first and I didn’t do anything wrong. Just trying to be safe.

Not really look at the Valerie Plame case. Scooter Libby was busted on perjury there was no spy case just garbage.
You take immunity to avoid the million-dollar legal bill.

Wait, they’re saying that if anyone from Team Trump conducted diplomacy, then Impeach! Convict!

Someone please announce the insanity of these charges, even if true.

Was discussing sanctions with the Russian ambassador, as is alleged of Flynn, a crime? Wasn’t the alleged crime, collusion with the Russians to influence the outcome of the presidential election? I don’t think Flynn is guilty of the latter.
