Iran sanctions 15 U.S. firms, citing human rights abuses and Israel ties

Iran has imposed sanctions on 15 U.S. companies for alleged human rights violations and cooperating with Israel, the state news agency IRNA reported on Sunday, in a tit-for-tat reaction to a move by Washington.

The agency quoted Iran's foreign ministry as saying the companies had "flagrantly violated human rights" and cooperated with Israel in its "terrorism" against the Palestinians and the expansion of Jewish settlements.

It was not immediately clear if any of the companies, which included defense technology firm Raytheon, had any dealings with Iran or whether they would be affected in any way by Tehran's action, which IRNA said would include seizure of their assets and a ban on contacts with them.

The sanctioned companies also included ITT Corporation, United Technologies and specialty vehicles maker Oshkosh Corp. For a full list click on: bit.ly/2noZWNo

The Iranian move came two days after the United States imposed sanctions on 11 companies or individuals from China, North Korea or the United Arab Emirates for technology transfers that could boost Tehran's ballistic missile program.

The whole concept of the Iranian government ‘sanctioning’ American companies is ludicrous since it is they who are under existing sanctions. This amounts to playground name-calling. Par-for-course for the Mullahs.

After the Iran nuke deal, U.S. companies with foreign entities could do business with Iran through the foreign offices. Also, those dealing in medicine, healthcare, for humanitarian reasons - can do limited business there.

Being signed a deal to sell Iran 80 planes at the end of 2016, but it’s not certain it will be able to go thru with it now. Hopefully, Trump’s sanctions will stop it. Though they’re getting planes from Airbus.

Anything contrary to Sharia is “human rights abuse” and is to be criminalized.

No, I’m not kidding.

In 1990 the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) issued their “Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam”. It’s Article 22 states: “Everyone shall have the right to express his opinion freely in such manner as would not be contrary to the principles of the Shariah. Everyone shall have the right to advocate what is right, and propagate what is good, and warn against what is wrong and evil according to the norms of Islamic Shariah.” - http://www.oic-oci.org/english/article/human.htm

In other words, your freedom of speech and action may not be contrary to Shariah.

Since 1999 through 2010 the OIC has annually introduced Resolutions to the UN Commission on Human Rights. In 2011 the UN Human Rights Commission adopted Resolution 16/18. - http://www2.ohchr.org/english/bodies/hrcouncil/docs/16session/A.HRC.RES.16.18_en.pdf

UN Human Rights Commission Resolution 16/18 “Notes the speech given by Secretary-General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference at the fifteenth session of the Human Rights Council, and draws on his call on States to take the following actions”, among the actions listed: “Adopting measures to criminalize incitement to imminent violence based on religion or belief”.

It is critically important to note that the OIC considers “Islamophobia” to be “incitement”. On 24 September 2010, the Foreign Ministers of OIC Member States, at the Annual Coordination Meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, issued a Declaration on Countering Islamophobia. The OIC reports, “The Meeting called upon the international community to exert efforts to prevent incitement to hatred and discrimination against Muslims and to take effective measures to combat the defamation of religions and negative stereotyping of people on the basis of religion, faith or race. The Meeting requested the Secretary-General to continue the OIC initiatives in order to effectively counter Islamophobia through discussions and deliberations in various international fora.” - http://web.archive.org/web/20110717014735/http://www.oic-oci.org/uploads/file/Islamphobia/2011/en/islamphobia_rep_May_2010_to_April_2011_en.pdf - page 35

The OIC views UN Human Rights Commission adopted Resolution 16/18 as the OIC’s vehicle to criminalize “Islamophobia”. The OIC states “In order to combat Islamophobia and foster tolerance and mutual understanding based on international human rights standards, States, international organizations and non-state actors should [] Take all necessary measures within their power and legal/jurisdictional systems to ensure a safe environment” - http://www.oic-oci.org/oicv2/upload/islamophobia/2013/en/islamphobia_report_2013.pdf page 33

December 12-14, 2011, at the invitation of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, representatives of 26 governments and four international organizations met in Washington, D.C. to discuss the implementation of United Nations Human Rights Council Resolution 16/18 - https://geneva.usmission.gov/2012/04/19/implementation1618/

Iran accusing Israel of human rights abuses is like Susan Rice accusing the Trump admin. of putting out inaccurate if not deliberately false information.
