Sanctuary implies a place of refuge for the oppressed. But the purpose of these cities is to provide safe haven for the criminal class -- that is, oppressors. So "sanctuary" is really the opposite of what they provide.
There is a perfectly good legal term for those who enable criminal behavior before it occurs, or provide cover for them after they commit their crimes, both of which these "Sanctuary Cities" do. It is called "accessory." So we need to start labeling these Accessory Cities to make clear what function it is they perform.
Well, I just saw the Reno city council voted 6-0 to become a “welcoming city”. i.e. sanctuary city. FIDIOTS.

If pressed, the sanctuary cities movement revives the early 19th century arguments over interposition and nullification. It would be interesting to consider the implications of reverting to a pre-Jacksonian understanding of federalism. Perhaps Republican governors and attorneys general should convene a working group to outline a conservative nullification agenda, with an invitation to the left to participate in a parallel process on the understanding that what is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
If the left really wants to dismantle federal supremacy on just about everything this side of national defense, perhaps it's time to play Br'er Rabbit. Does the left really want to abolish the federal administrative state in the interests of illegal immigrants?
The best argument against sanctuary cities is the term “sanctuary city”. It is a violation of common sense, setting aside the violation of the law for a moment.
Love it here but the politics are like ‘biggest little vegas’. We’re workin’ on it but I guess with the influx of people coming here for the tesla plant(batteries only) and other companies we should expect some, or a lot, of libs. Some of the comments on the facebook thing I saw on Mrs. rktman’s facebook concerning the council vote were not to happy. Actually, most of the comments were pretty nasty. Even if the commenters had shown up for the council meeting, the arrogant council would have voted the same. Like I said——FIDIOTS.
