MALIBU, Calif. (AP) — Taking a stand in the national debate over illegal immigration, Malibu has joined the ranks of sanctuary cities.

The City Council of the celebrity enclave voted 3-2 this month to approve a resolution prohibiting use of city funds and resources to enforce federal civil immigration law.

Councilwoman Laura Rosenthal introduced the resolution after Malibu resident and actor Martin Sheen appeared before the council in December to urge a sanctuary designation.

LOL. So some of the priciest real estate on Earth is now a “sanctuary city.” Unless the ordinance requires each homeowner to put aside a quarter acre for a couple migrant tents, I’d call this simple virtue signaling in the extreme.

I’d daresay that if you investigated the benefits of the Malibu City Council you will see that its members have spent most of their time feathering their nests and insured that if they reach some minimum electoral tenure, they are taken care of for life.

The freedom this opportunity offers on one of great flexibility that most certainly attracts rabid vote panderers and no-goods to its service.

If you take away the incentive, you take away the reason these ideological leeches gravitate towards governmental largess.

You don’t understand. The ordinance is to protect the help.

It’s virtue signaling for sure, but there’ll be a real world cost to it — a higher crime rate. ....which of course the residents will blame on Trump and the GOP rather than their own guilt-ridden PC.

ok! Everybody who lives in Malibu, line up right here with house keys in hand. We have illegals ready to move into your homes. Oh, and we’ll need your car keys, and your employee pass. You won’t be needing those anymore since your job just went to an illegal. Step right up! Don’t be shy!

Certainly there's no danger of illegals moving to Malibu, but now there'll be plenty more who'll be emboldened to take day trips there. Zuma beach is already somewhat infested. (I was just there last week). Expect that to increase.

I’m in Ohio.

Some years ago when I lived in an apartment, the neighbor had ‘undocumented’ people hired to paint their building.

They immediately and routinely used the space between our buildings for their open air toilet...even in broad daylight.

ICE can thank sanctuary cities for inviting, baiting illegals to gather there...It's like shooting fish in a barrel.

More sanctuary cities please!

Remember that picture of Martin Sheen from the Iraq war, when he went out with duct tape on his mouth, apparently claiming he had been “silenced”?

But yes, let’s send the illegals to Sheen’s house. He must have the money to accommodate them.

All the Sanctuary cities should be sued in federal court to have their votes nullified.

This is what happened to the voters of California after Prop. 187 was passed by 59% of their vote.

One Federal judge - Mariana Pfaelzer - said that a State cannot make a law regarding immigration. Her puppet chorus from Mexico chanted this for the next 15 years, and the Federal courts went along with it.

Now some States and many cities run by Rats are trying to not just make their own immigration laws but are actively nullifying Federal immigration laws.

They all need to have their own words shoved down their throats: You said only the Federal government can do anything about it, so that’s what’s going to happen.
