“The annual meal cost is $2,765 for 250 days

Since the program is mainly run by volunteers but it’s still costing a whopping $11.06 per meal”

I think your math is off? $11.06 per day is not bad, but still no excuse for the federal govt to be funding it.

My math is fine. Most of our homemade full dinners (meat and two sides) run about $2.50. Add in lighter breakfasts and lunch for $5/day. Yes, I’ve posted priced out meals here many times. If Burger King and KFC can do it for much less with $15/hr burger flippers, then the government with volunteers can certainly do a better job.

School lunches, for those parents who actually pay full price, run about $2.50.
