You probably didn’t notice, but Trump and Putin are rebuilding a mighty military alliance
National Post ^ | 03/20/2017 | Lawrence Solomon

The Western press is preoccupied with demon Russia. We’re told that Russia through its tool, WikiLeaks, cost Hillary Clinton the election; ..... --------------------------------------- ....What isn’t conjecture is that there is now a dramatic warming of ties, a mutual respect and a military alliance between Russia and America not seen in decades. ------------------------------- The thaw in relations between the military superpowers began almost immediately after Trump’s inauguration,......“We reiterated that we have common, ... said a hopeful Lavrov, who lamented that relations between Russia and the U.S. “were seriously undermined by the Obama administration.” ----------------------------------

The meetings demonstrated the Trump administration’s competence, and its predecessor’s incompetence. In October, during the Aleppo crisis in Syria, the U.S. and Russia had their first serious face-off since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, when Russia countered Obama’s decision to attack the Syrian army, saying it would shoot down any U.S. aircraft that threatened Russian personnel in Syria. Obama humiliatingly backed down then — he had failed to lay the groundwork for Russia-U.S. military co-operation to avoid accidental deaths, despite numerous pleas from an alarmed Dunford, who had sought permission to meet with the Russians to avoid high-stakes confrontations should the two countries find themselves functioning in the same war arena....Obama never did give that permission but the Trump administration swiftly did, leading to the co-operation that now exists between the two forces on the ground in Syria.

------------------------------------------ The second military meeting, ... was even more consequential, but this time because of who was and who wasn’t invited. The top brass from Turkey, a regional power, was present, as was the top military brass from the U.S. and Russia, the two global superpowers. Iran, an ally of Syria and, it thought, an ally of Russia’s, was not invited.

The Trump administration in a matter of weeks had sidelined Iran, weakening, if not altogether breaking, the Russian-Iranian alliance. ----------------------------------------

That Russia would see its interests aligning more with the U.S. than with Iran is no surprise. Russia is a natural ally of the United States, notwithstanding the dark decades of the 20th century when it fell under a communist dictatorship. The Russian czars identified with the West and were allies of the West; the West admires Russian literature, Russian music and Russian art. Russia shares with the West a Judeo-Christian heritage and, along with other Western nations, has been protective of the Holy Lands. Iran, in contrast, is a natural enemy of Russia’s — the two countries fought numerous wars in the past and Iran’s Shiite’s have been historic enemies of Russia’s many Sunni Muslims as well as its Christians.

Russia isn’t giving up their Irainian alliance as long as it remains profitable in terms of arms sales. Our common enemy is Syria is ISIS and it makes sense to work together against them.

With Syria, Russia will finally have access to the warm water port it has desired for centuries.

Remember after the election, the MSM and Obama’s rats were screaming that the world would be in chaos...that Team Trump didn’t know how to handle these delicate issues and foreign leaders were worried sick!

It turns out Team Trump was working the stage from day one or before and has, in 2 months, erased the humiliation of 8 years of Obama and Clinton foreign policy...I figured when Trump kept making fun of Clinton and her “plastic toy reset button” that his plans were already moving.

If you ever watch the movie “13 Hours..Benghazi” the CIA station chief brags that he has the most intelligent minds from Yale and Harvard working for him...that was right before the Embassy was attacked, all hell broke loose and the Libyan success story narrative blew up. This was the guy who took the order from DC to STAND DOWN while the embassy was burning.

Eventually we will start to hear the truth about Obama, Clinton(and McCain/Lindsey Graham) and their treasonous actions...it will take some time, but the truth will be written.

“slobbered over the dumbass obamites when they came into office.”

I have no illusions about Russia and I doubt Team Trump has either...but they are already miles ahead of Obama on the world stage...the MSM just won’t tell the American people that.

Russia has had a naval base in Syria for years.

“With Syria, Russia will finally have access to the warm water port it has desired for centuries.”

It has one already. It’s why Putin took back Crimea, that prior to Kruschev giving the Crimea away to Ukraine in the 50’s, was Russian territory for years. Putin wasn’t going to allow this warm water port to come under the influence of the West, when Ukraine overthrew their Russia friendly leader, with the help of Western powers. Another warm water port under Russian influence in Syria, is frosting on the cake.

How many cakes do you want to frost for Russia?

However, the Ukraine only provides access to the Black Sea and access to the Black Sea can be controlled at the Dardanelles.

Yeah man, we’re really jumping the gun to say Iran/Russia alliance is history!!

We are focused on working together to crush ISIS, and boy have things picked up since Trump took office.

After that is finished, let’s take one day at a time.

As The Great One said, trust but verify.

I made the point that in general the people whom you have evidence of illegality on are the ones that you TRY to get elected. The Trump-Russian narrative doesn’t support this.

But think of other Russian interests.

They would like us to remove tactical nukes from Europe.

They would like us to let the military deteriorate.

They would like us to NOT develop our energy resources.

They would not want us to build up our military intelligence.

They would not want us to develop our military technology.

They would not want us to be secure from terrorist attacks.

On each and every one of these issues, the candidate the Russians would NOT want to get elected would be Donald Trump.

I think most people who believe this story was falsified by a politicized intel community instinctively know this, but I think it is worthwhile to state it unequivocally.

We have around 800 bases scattered around the world as best as I can see they have 2 or 3.

Freaking out over them having a worn out port facility in Syria is really kinda funny.

The only reason the Russian didn’t want Hillary elected was her promise to start a war with Russia.

It has been a long standing strategic interest of the United States and the Western European allies to contain Russian (Soviet) naval power by controlling the Dardanelles and thereby limiting their access to a warm water port. It is that goal that has primarily kept both Greece and Turkey under our influence.

With that, during peacetime, we grant Russia access thought the Dardanelles, but when hostilities arise, we have the ability to control access in and out of the Black Sea.

Fears of Russia come from weakness. A US, much stronger than Russia militarily, is a natural ally to Russia. And, they make a far better proxy for the US than N Korea does for China. Russia gets protection from the EU, the US gets an ally for its battle with Iran and the muzzies.

Don’t think of Russia as an enemy. They don’t really threaten the US at all. Verbal conflict with the US is nothing but red meat for his former commies (who no longer control anything). The US has nothing Russia wants other than help with the EU and the muzzies.

“However, the Ukraine only provides access to the Black Sea and access to the Black Sea can be controlled at the Dardanelles.”

That is a good point. But it is a safer port than the one in war torn Syria at the moment. I suspect the Russians are very happy to have both ports available.
