TRENTON -- "Saturday Night Live" alum Joe Piscopo has decided he will not run for New Jersey governor as a Republican and instead is planning to declare he will jump into the race to succeed Gov. Chris Christie as an independent candidate, NJ Advance Media has learned.

Piscopo made his decision because he did not begin the process of running early enough to run as a Republican, according to two sources close to the performer who requested anonymity because they did not want to publicly discuss an official announcement that could trigger state election laws on fundraising.

He has until April 3rd to get 1000 registered voters throughout the state? But best to file earlier to answer challenged signatures. Independents need 800 by June.

New Guernsney is a fiscal mess to govern plus all the rat influence.
BTW— on another topic— where is Rudy Giuliani these days?

The democrat that is running (Murphy see https://www.murphy4nj.com) has the same credentials as Corzine. Rich Wall Street lib who came from Goldman Sachs. Lives on a “farm assessed” property and pays no property taxes. When pressed on the similarities he gives some line about Jeter and A-Rod not being the same. Huh?!?

His platform:

-End the excesses of Wall Street (now that he made his money there)

-Gun control laws the likes of which would make California blush

-Make corporations pay “fair” share. Well, those that haven’t moved out yet.

-Make the rich pay their fair share.

His agenda basically amounts to a second term for Corzine and it reads like a suicide note for New Jersey.

NJ will be a tough climb for anyone not a Democrat this go around. Christie is toxic and Guadagno has not a chance in hell. Independents have a history of doing fairly well here. Dagget was competitive in the polls for awhile but wound up at 6%. Piscopo doesn’t really have a shot, but could make it interesting with the outsider movement Trump started along with his quick wit. He might be very good on the campaign trail and on a debate stage. Possibility of pulling maybe 15%. We’ll see.

I remember Chris Daggett in 2009. I wonder if he will run as an Independent this year as well? He’s been quiet since 2009.

then he will hand over the election to the democrats. A third-party candidate is just a spoiler for the republicans. He must dislike NJ.
