Bill would make abortion pill available at state college campuses

The abortion pill would be on hand at virtually every public college in California under legislation introduced Friday in the state Senate.

The bill’s inception comes amid renewed attempts to slash funding for Planned Parenthood, which would no longer receive Medicaid reimbursements under the Republican-backed American Health Care Act.

If the health care plan were passed in its current form, $174 million would be slashed from the budget of California’s Planned Parenthood clinics. Although Planned Parenthood is the largest single provider of abortions in the country, it does not use federal money to provide the procedure.

“If those cuts are made, then I do believe this bill takes on a heightened sense of urgency,” state Sen. Connie Leyva, D-Chino (San Bernardino County), who put forth the bill, told The Chronicle. “Women in 2017 shouldn’t be fighting for access to their bodies.”

Leyva’s legislation — which doesn’t cover surgical abortions — would make the pregnancy-terminating pills available at all University of California, California State University and California Community College campuses that have a student health center that gets funding from the state.

The medication, two pills ingested orally, can be taken only within 10 weeks of a woman’s last period.

the bottom line is that what’s available is not the issue. It’s just like gun control. There’s still plenty of gun deaths in the neighborhoods with gun control. Even more.. The bottom line is the country’s morals need to change.

How about “keep your knees together”. But I will not pay for your abortion drug if you don’t!

The abortion pills (Plan-B) can be purchased at the local Walmart for less than 40 bucks.

Looks like they are working to get the American Public Taxpayers to foot the bill, again.

“Women in 2017 shouldn’t be fighting for access to their bodies.”

The dialog of the pro- ‘murder your own genetic offspring’ crowd has become complete jibberish! A woman doesn’t have access to her body???

I’m torn. On the one hand, I am opposed to abortion. On the other, it’s California.

Can we include free abortions for all New Yorkers, too?

The obamacare solution. Male and female through age 26 from your loving parent government. Works on pets too!

This is really sad. Trying to snuff out God’s creation. Those little babies even a second old are God’s. Children are on loan from God to parents to raise them to Praise and Worship the Lord and spread the Gospel. Those refusing Jesus on earth will have an eternity in the pits of Hell and that is really really sad.

“Why are these people so obsessed with killing babies?”

I have always thought it had something to do with convenience, non acceptance of responsibilty, hate, self loathing, eating their young and then eating the other young within the pride. Societal norms...

I once knew a young woman who told me “if I can’t have my baby than no one else will” I thought she was insane and later I think she painted herself into the corner and flipped out over her terrible choices. She still lives but is in hiding (in plain sight) for non payment of child support... the father of one of her two children took possession of his progeny after she neglected to properly support the child and basically partied with the support monies... The real kicker was that the courts sided with her EVERY TIME. It all came down one night when the young girl was physically harmed in a jealous rage and the police were summoned... “oh what a tangled web we weave”. Which brings me back to the mentally insane scenario...

Females who abort could quite possibly, and simply put, be insane.

The “threat” of pregnancy makes sex a reality. Young adults must understand and respect the impact of real sex.

Because:

"“Because our health center includes a pretty comprehensive amount of sexual and reproductive services, not providing abortions reinforces the idea that abortion is not a part of women’s health, when it absolutely is,” said Adiba Khan, 20, a student who pushed for the service to be offered on campus. “For undergrads and graduate students, abortion is part of their life. It’s normal and should be available as easily and cheaply as possible.”"

Emphasis mine.

Fornication is seen as a college sport.

Men and women don't understand that sexual intercourse results in the conception of a child.

The child so casually conceived is seen by the woman as no more significant than a used tampon.

The male partner (parent) is unaware that a child has been conceived and doesn't care to know.

Sorry to be so graphic, but this is murder.

If it prevents another liberal being born, it may be worth it.

What happened to “safe, legal and rare”? Horrible as that was, it looks like a big segment of our society has made the transition from tolerance to acceptance to almost celebration, as we have with other formerly frowned upon behaviors.

“Sen. Connie Leyva, D-Chino”

Living in Chino now, and for the last 25 years, never heard of this clown. Maybe she won the seat last Nov. I know I didn’t vote for her.

I'm sure NYS will announce the same thing very soon if it's not already on the books.

I remember Cuomo saying that the best reason to vote for gay marriage in NYS was that is good for the economy.
