Well, it’s the law, Lemon. President Trump, in his proposed budget, has a line stating “The purpose of this budget is to make black people lose and go hungry.”

It’s right there in BLACK and white.

Yep, if there are any they are not trying hard to get feed with all the various programs available, Fed, State, local food banks, schools.

Ditto on that, and it’s not a white vs. black vs. Hispanic thing at all. Well, ok, most of the occasional Asians are not grossly obese (although a few are.)

One tends to see receipts left behind a lot (I guess few of these people track their food expenses), and, while the stories about “Lobster and pricey steaks” purchased by EBT seem somewhat exaggerated, what is striking is the poor diet. I OCR’d a “typical” receipt, editing out any identifying information. Many of the items, taken by themselves, are not outrageous, but, what is alarming is the lack of basic, sound, nutrition:

My proposal to Trump would be that if we are going to give out EBT cards, 90% of the credits must be used for basic, healthy staples, in generic or store brands. It seems to me that even Michelle Obama could agree. Heck, put her 50% in charge of selection...

I’ve said this before our society has accomplished something that until now was a historical impossibility!
Fat poor & skinny rich!

Our poor suffer from diseases tied to obesity.

Your example illustrates that.

That has a LOT to do with the foods that are eaten by the two groups. Cheap convenient food, that a poor working person is more likely to purchase, is mostly usually very high in calories and low in nutrition. Carbs are very cheap, even the ones you have to cook. The diet of most working poor is Very high in carbs, salt, sugar, and crazy stuff that only a scientist can explain. But good food, vegetables, fruit, good meat, can be really hard on low income. I say this from experience. There are good choices that is 'reasonably cheap'. But a lot don't understand when you are really poor, and working long hours too, those items can be out of the question sometimes. The working poor really have it the hardest. No food stamps there, just working to pay bills, do shopping, kids needs and such. Not to mention the effects of stress on the body. That makes you hang onto weight even more too.

additionally - President Trump cutting the taxes of the working poor will ALLOW them to have more money to purchase better foods for their family. So this totally discredits their argument!!!
