Are you satisfied with an Army smaller than anyone can remember, a Navy on a par with WWI, Marines raiding scrap yards to repair and replace planes and other needed armaments, Air Force doing the same to keep a few planes in the air? You can’t build nuclear powered ships out of tin cans!

Wouldn't users of benefits be tax consumers? I'd like the taxpayer to benefit.

User can also be taxpayers.

Trump will have to shut the government down by vetoing what they do pass.

WRONG!!!!

But McTurtle and Ryno may well shut down the government by passing an unacceptable and unsustainable unbalanced "budget".

Don't let the bastards define the terms of discussion.

Republicans never called an Obama budget dead on arrival.

Much as I like the military, we don’t need to be constantly prepared to fight 3 major wars in 3 widely separated locations at all time.
Basically, we’re trying to keep up a WWII level of military all the time.
Doesn’t help that the weapon systems have become outrageously expensive, too.

Instead of saying to one another that it will never work, why not get behind it and make waves about how great it is, support the budget, speak loudly, write your Congressman and local media.

You are making the mistake of not understanding that the leadership of the GOP has been infiltrated by Marxist globalists. Nobody can be as useless as Paul Ryan without active betrayal.

It's a dead budget. Congress will never approve the cuts. Trump will have to shut the government down by vetoing what they do pass.

Agree. They have never agreed to the cuts before no reason to think the will now. Only way it will happen is if the President shuts down Mitch's government, the one he kept open at all costs before.

>>54 billion more in defense seems a tad excessive.<<

Consider that the Navy has fewer ships than at any time since Pearl Harbor. Consider that the Marines and the Army cannot fight on two fronts. Consider that aircraft are older than the pilots. Consider that military benefits, particularly medical insurance, have been cut.

Still think 54 billion is excessive?

Liberals going crazy over the arts of course,...

If Hollywood, and liberals in general, wants to support "the Arts", then they can make donations themselves!

In view of the support that Trump has now with the grass roots and outlets like his twitter account and Breitbart, not to mention his mass participation speeches and the Bully Pulpit, I think it is likely that Trump would have the upper hand in any shutdown scenario. Congress might want to tread lightly in that regard as they can not use common sense arguments against him.

this is not the budget of GOP leadership. It is what Trump is calling for. I do realize it now goes to the House for their input. But, I think FR should rally around what the President is seeking. Besides, from all I see, I like it.

Yes. Its still too much considering how much debt we have. Everyone wants to cut government spending except for the stuff they like.

Is the proposed budget published anywhere? I couldn’t find it at Whitehouse.gov.

My biggest beef from the tidbits I have heard is that it doesn’t reduce the budget deficit at all. Mr. Trump should at least be able to get to a balanced budget after 2 years or so.
