This article sounds like a PC global warming twist on an otherwise accepted theory amongst evolutionary biologists that isolated populations often exhibit dwarfism compared to their non-isolated relatives. This can be observed on islands that get separated due to continental drift etc. Reasons for dwarfism include limited predation and less need for high body mass.

There is never a certainty in any of the climate "predictions," so they can say whatever they want. I can say dinosaurs "could" have been so big due to climate warming.
