Using the article's own figures, Trump's total tax bill that year was over $36 million. That means he paid 24% of his income in taxes.

I bring this up because some sites are now reporting as a "fact" that that in 2005 Trump only paid 4% of his income in taxes.

The Daily Beast article is quick to report the 4% figure. They do mention the AMT payment. But they don't bother to calculate the 24% figure as I did.

This is infuriating.

Bernie Sanders paid only 13% income taxes in 2014. Obama paid 19% in 2015.
Hypocrites

Don’t worry, fake news is fake.

We no longer need to worry about this fine print type outrage.

Everyone knows they lie, no one trusts them, no set of talking points can correct this, no amount of lockstep reporting will change it.

The world knows Big Brother lies.

All the pounding on this subject just alienates viewers even more from the Media. Sure, there are 10-20% of viewers that are hard core leftists, but everyone else just thinks this is stupid and an invasion of privacy.

The Dems are in full retard mode and literally destroying their futures. I’m eating pop corn and enjoying the view...

Look at it this way - Donald Trump paid enough taxes to support about 700 welfare families in 2005

Some folks hypothesize that Trump set this whole thing up to make Maddow and Co. look stupid. If that’s really what happened, Trump’s plan succeeded brilliantly.

But I’m still angry. Implying that Trump only paid 4% of his income in taxes...that’s a lie. And too many people will believe it.

to me, there’s no story. Assuming that he complied with all tax laws, and paid his legally required amount of taxes, what the heck else do liberals expect him to do????

If these liberals get on TV and start bitching about depreciation allowances, or tax credits for certain types of business activity, or loss carryforwards from prior years which offset income in a certain year — If any of this talk occurs, we need to battle back, with the fact that all of this is legal!!

All of this and more is in the Internal Revenue Code, and LIBERAL DEMOCRATS AND SOCIALISTS use the same damn tax benefits, which are legally allowed for by the tax laws passed by our Congress and enforced by the IRS.

That was the result of the $900M loss from the year before. ;-). So with the AMT in place Trump was never going to pay no income tax.

I am wondering how it’s legal to broadcast someone’s private taxpayer information without their consent... I guess we are about to find out.

Surely the clintoon bunch retraction is in the works for their “he won’t pay taxes for 18 years”.

excerpt.... In its statement, the Clinton campaign said it appears that Trump got to avoid paying federal taxes at times when “millions of working families” paid up..........

“Hmmmmm. Unsigned client copy, not from a government source....”

That may be a copy of the tax form the Trump released so as to upstage Maddow.

When will the police be making the arrests for this crime? It doesn’t need a lawsuit from Trump. The law has been broken.

This is infuriating.

It's worse than that. Trump's actual bottom line of real income was less than $50 million because there were legitimate write offs due to tax credits and expenses. That's why the fake AMT was added on, even though he was taking legitimate write offs which under the law are completely legal credits and expenses. The AMT was passed purely out of envy and spite by Liberals.
