I don’t get the people here who think you can publicize SSN under the First Amendment. Here is an example at one point in time of laws in the following states as per a consumer site. It’s from 2008. NY had passed their own laws since then that limit it , too.
States that restrict intentionally communicating SSNs to the public and/or intentional public posting and display:
Alaska
Missouri
Arizona
New Jersey (11)
Arkansas
New Mexico
California
New York
Colorado
North Carolina
Connecticut
Pennsylvania
Georgia
Rhode Island
Hawaii
South Carolina
Illinois
Texas
Michigan
Vermont
Minnesota
Virginia

What’s the current law in Virginia?
Look it up
1A is badly misunderstood.
It also only applies to *government* action. Which is why I rip my hair out every time someone caterwauls about being censored in a private forum, like FReeper and yells First Amendment!
Steve Doocy, Ainsley Earhard and Brian Kilmeade did interview him at the White House a couple of weeks ago and he gave them a tour.
Good Lord!! Look at the size of that neck on her before pic. Reminds me of myself when I was playing ball in HS
My experience is that people who use this phrase oppose Free Speech.
You might need to review Bartnicki v. Vopper yourself.
I hope she is ready to go to jail.
I don’t oppose free speech. In just have a better grip on it after having studied it in depth prior to passing the bar exam.
People are calling for MSNBC to be criminally prosecuted for releasing the tax returns. You show great disrespect for the 1st Amendment. Many Freepers do.
I wished Freerepublic had a like button. You would get definitely one from me I am sure many from others
Why do you keep posting that case. Is it a case of PUBLICIZING A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER?
SSN has special meaning and is fraught with danger if revealed in public.
Ask someone who has had to deal with identity theft.
States have laws about this.
Show me how this case is about SSN
