Germany's justice minister is proposing fines of up to 50 million euros ($53 million) for social networking sites that fail to swiftly remove illegal content, such as hate speech or defamatory "fake news."
The plan announced Tuesday marks a further step in Germany's attempt to impose its strict domestic laws against incitement on the free-wheeling world of online chatter.
Justice Minister Heiko Maas, a member of the center-left Social Democratic Party, said social media companies had already taken voluntary steps to crack down on hate crimes that have resulted in improvements.
"This isn't sufficient yet," Maas said, citing research that he said showed Twitter deletes just 1 percent of illegal content flagged by users, while Facebook deletes 39 percent.
The proposal would require companies to provide a round-the-clock service for users to flag illegal content, which would have to be removed by the site within seven days. All copies of the content would also have to be deleted and social media companies would need to publish a quarterly report detailing how they have dealt with such material.

Like that's going to work.
They had the NAZI;s who were against free speech, and now it seems they are reverting back to their old self.
The left hates free speech, and facts. They see they are losing around the world, and now are resorting to more draconian measures like telling us what we should not say or think.. Even here we see the left trying to close free speech at colleges, on the media, and attack anyone who opposes their radical agenda.
What a Nazi!
Germany is a joke.
He’s the guy that always reminds one of Göbbels.
Well, like South Africa in apartheid, we should boycott Germany for violation of basic human and corporate rights to freedom of speech.
Where’s the “antifa” outrage?? Oh that’s right, they support this shit...
Ooooh --- ooooh --- I know ---
They can call it "The Stasi" informally!
The world is rapidly entering the age of censorship - China just outlawed criticism- Sweden i think just tried or succeeded in passing some censorship law- France or canada it’s against the law to have a pro life website that teaches against abortion- etc etc etc
The globalists are about to go all out in censoring and violating people’s rights- I believe we will see an increase in this crap soon as globalists think that now is the time to ram through their agenda- They feel emboldened since obama did all the crap he did and got away with it-
They watched him ‘test the waters’ and saw how much he was able ot get away with when violating our rights- and how little resistance he got-
They watched as He violated CHristian’s rights- attacked the church and moral America- violated conservative’s rights- ordered the irs to blatantly attack conservative businesses- Forced Americans, —Against The Law— to purchase something- something that has —NEVER— been allowed legally in this country- Watched as Bamako ignored proper procedures by going around congress and ramming through his iran deal, the climate deal etc etc etc- and watched as the republicans did NOTHING despite having the power of over-ride AND power of hte purse to defend the illegitimate regulations and agreements
Obama’s terms were far reaching in the destruction and eroding of rights- other countries watched, and saw that they could likely do the same crap and get away with it because people were not likely to rise up and resist-
Globalists believe their time has come- or is approaching at least- look for lots more violations of basic human rights in the months and years to come-
“Bend over and spread for Islam” rules.
There, fixed it.......
Your post is a chilling and sobering truth of just how dark things have turned. End of times...
I hope that the USA will effectively reject all of that but frankly I think it’s inevitable that this nation succumbs to all that evil leaving Israel the last defiant hold out to pure evil.
