NY Times: Preet Bharara Shunned Politics. His End Was Tinged by Them. (big time fake news alert)
NY Times ^ | March 12, 2017 | Benjamin Weiser, Ben Protess, Matthew Goldstein and William K. Rashbaum

Posted on 03/12/2017 9:06:00 PM PDT by Zakeet

Ten days into his tenure as United States attorney in Manhattan, Preet Bharara saw his political and prosecutorial worlds collide.

He convened a meeting to discuss a sensitive investigation of a Democratic donor with ties to Senator Chuck Schumer of New York. Mr. Bharara had been Mr. Schumer's chief counsel, and Mr. Schumer had recommended Mr. Bharara for the prosecutorial post.

At the meeting, Mr. Bharara asked his prosecutors if there was enough evidence to make a case against the donor, Hassan Nemazee. One of the prosecutors, Daniel W. Levy, who is now in private practice, would recall years later that he had told Mr. Bharara that there had been a wide-reaching bank fraud.

"Then take him," Mr. Bharara said.

That case - one of his very first as the top federal prosecutor in Manhattan - foreshadowed a theme that Mr. Bharara harped on throughout his tenure pursuing a host of public corruption, terrorism, civil rights and Wall Street cases: Politics and prosecution do not mix.

Yet now, more than seven years after taking office, Mr. Bharara, 48, finds himself on what appears to be the losing end of a quintessential political decision.

On Saturday, the Trump administration fired him after he refused to follow a Justice Department order to resign immediately.

Actually, Bharara is a rabid Democrat political hack ... he was Chuckie Schumer's personal shark ... he failed to prosecute the Clinton Foundation, market manipulation and other Wall Street financial crimes ... he ignored a lawful order to resign his post ... and he is now becoming our next Libtard Newser cause célèbre in our never-ending attempt to generate a fake new narrative to distract from our pitiful bias ... and hopefully goose our plunging readership and plummeting ad revenues.

More fact free fake news from the above!

Heck, Jeff Sessions got fired by Janet Reno and Bill Clinton, as a US Attorney, and he survived. Now, Sessions is just following a long tradition of firing the previous president's political appointees.

Thanks to: xzins for the above.

New presidents can fire any previous appointment people after they take office. Our fact free fake news mediots ignore this reality and their internet trolls churn out this fact free non news to try and create an issue when there is a long tradition of firing by previous presidents.

A guy who robs banks isn’t any less of a bank robber because he didn’t rob all banks.

Going after some Dems while leaving other high profile ones alone doesn’t make you apolitical.

With every rave Bharara receives for the big NY political fish he caught for their corruption, I'm always reminded of the even bigger NY political fish he let get away.

While he convicted so many top aides of the Governor Cuomo for political kickbacks, he let Cuomo walk.

While he convicted so many of the Mayor DeBlasio’s financial backers for bribes, he also let DeBlasio walk.

It seems to be a very effective strategy for an Obama appointee, Obama donor and candidate to replace AG Holder, to employ for cutting Democrat political loses.

"Lead Prosecutor {Bharara} in Dinesh D’Souza Case Is Former Obama Donor" Excerpt:
"Bharara is an Obama appointee, an Obama donor, and is said to be on the short list to replace Attorney General Eric Holder."

He prosecuted Dinesh D’Sousa, because he made movies critical of Barack Obama.

He has been extremely political.

Preet Bharara avoided damaging Clinton, Inc. His end was predicated on him shielding NY Criminals.

I thought that once POTUS started showing results - which has already started - that the left would quiet down. Instead I think we’re going to see the opposite. They’d rather see us desroyed than Great Again.

Exactly.

Game. Set. Match. He’s a hack.

I am tired of hearing about this political hack. This a-hole should be thrown in prison for his disgraceful role in the blatant political persecution of Dinesh D’Souza.

Shunning politics my ass.

This turkey sent out a tweet Sunday with a veiled suggestion that he had Trump in his crosshairs:

Sunday’s tweet was Bharara’s first tweet since he announced via his Twitter account Saturday that he had been fired by the Trump administration. He was fired because he refused to submit his resignation, which was requested by Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Friday. Sessions had requested the resignations from all 46 Obama-era federal attorneys. Many interpreted Bharara’s tweet as a suggestion that he was investigating Trump or his administration for possible corruption

The story keeps getting weirder by the hour. It's like they're determined to show us that Trump has almost supernatural instincts to make the right moves even before the facts get revealed to the rest of us.

It is becoming more clear by his defenders that Sessions and President Trump made the right choice.
